School
School is going well for the most part. I ended up having to drop biology because I wouldn't have time to meet other requirements, but that's okay. I like all of my classes except for orchestration. Ugh, the teacher does not know how to teach! I'm confused on two-thirds of the assignments, but what can I expect? I love my woodwind class, even if I am on oboe to start out. My teacher rocks! It's supposed to get bad here, and she offered me her upstairs bedroom if I get stuck in Martin. I already made arrangements with my friend (and pledge sister) Hannah, but it was so nice of her to offer. It kinda helps when the person who teaches my clarinet lesson each week is also my friend. Yay warm fuzzlies!
Music
I'm playing an awesome piece this semester - Krommer's Clarinet Concerto in E-flat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rq7sn6WZ1-A Listen to it! I really love the first movement (the link I gave, the poster disabled embedding). I haven't started the other two yet. I'm also playing a set of dances by some German composer that I can't remember and Three Songs without Words by a composer named Ben-Haim. I can't remember his first name. They're Hebrew-sounding, which is pretty cool because that's something different than the usual concerto or sonata I've been playing. I'm playing E-flat clarinet in Wind Ensemble for one song, which makes me very happy. I love that thing!
I've also discovered Bright Eyes and Cursive. They're both amazing, go check them out. Bright Eyes' vocalist (Conor Oberst) might throw some people off because he isn't the best singer, but the lyrics are so great. Cursive has a cellist, which rocks.
Life in General
It's been pretty good. I've discovered Dexter thanks to Kiv (that's my best friend Jennifer), and I've gotten back into writing. I'm working on All She Needs, which is a Candyce Proops/Richard Vranch fic. All That Glitters is Candyce/Tony, and Moonlight is...well, I can't say anything about that pairing without giving away a major part of the story. The first two can be found at
midnightfate because I didn't want to clutter my f-list with writing. Candyce is my favorite OFC, and I just shamelessly plugged my writing LJ. Go me. I've also rediscovered my love for Tony Slattery (as well as BritLine in general). Andy's still the subject of a great deal of my fangirling, so all is well. (new SNL this week, yay!)
Yeah, I have my problems at times, but that's only human. I can't complain about things, though. That's the first time I've been able to say that in a while, and it feels pretty good.
Alright, I've rambled enough. I'd update the aforementioned midnightfate journal, but I left my flash drive at home.
