Well after four days of kicking my ass in varying degrees cluster migraine has eased, and I no longer feel like my head is being split with an axe and having to dope myself to the eyeballs in order to keep functioning.

However, one of the positive aspects being that four days of feeling too quesy to eat has had definate positive effects on my figure, and now I have a flat tummy again and my trousers are looser than they used to be.

The favourite past time of old men in Belgrade- playing chess in Kalemegdan (while other old men look on and comment.

Kalemegdan is very very very old. It's been there for at least a thousand years and there are remnants of the first fortress which has then been built on time and time again. It was meant to defend Belgrade against attack from the river. Parts of the fortress have been preserved and now serve as a war museum. And there is a huge huge huge lovely park of chestnut and oak trees mostly, and it's one of my favourite parts of Belgrade.

Kalemegdan is IMMENSE and another part of it houses the zoo.

One of the landmarks of Belgrade- this statue is called the Victor- it stands on Kalemegdan above the ruins of the old fortress.

This shows nothing in particular beyond a moment of storm and a mad wind flinging everything about. It's not eh best picture I've ever taken but for some reason I really like it.

this is another landmark of Kalemegdan- the stray dogs run here; A young one took a deep liking to my skirt and started chewing it.

Another feature of Belgrade- there are many of thse scattered about, the bombed out buildings from the NATO strike of 1999

one of the main streets of Belgrade

A view of old (and falling apart) Belgrade from Kalemegdan/

Another view of old Belgrade from Kalemegdan.

A view of the river Sava from Kalemegdan- you can see the little boats on the river- there are many many many of those and they are usually bars/cafes.
