Of poi and brass bands

I have been practicing with poi, with mixed results. I found some free online lessons and hints and tips but they were a bit confusing since they contained instructions such as *pretend you're scooping air forward* *keep your palms facing the sky* and so on which on the whole largely had me doing a T. Are you of Yugoslavian origin? I have to admit I hadn't even suspected that you might be anything other than British!

I'm quite interested in outlandish European music generally, so if you do end up with any spare CDs...

Partially. :) (i'm a mongrel) But I was born in Belgrade though, and spent some formative years there so I think of myself as Yugoslav.

I have to admit I hadn't even suspected that you might be anything other than British!

I'm quite interested in outlandish European music generally, so if you do end up with any spare CDs...

I like to pretend I have Slavic roots of my own, to justify my dark brooding looks and predisposition to melancholy, but in actual fact all I know is that one branch of my family came out of the Ukraine and another from Germany circa 1900.

I'd love a CD, to see if it strikes a chord deep within my ancestry somewhere :)
