surprise!
Prologue: After picking up Matei from school I explain how we're going to be making some Father's day cards for Z but how it's important to not tell him so that on Sunday he can get a lovely surprise. Matei indicates assent and understanding and cards are duly created with only minor spillage of paint and shrieking.
Z comes home. Matei instantly sprints towards him bellowing:
"Daddy! We did not make you Father's Day cards!"
"No?"
"That's right! And they don't have foxes and owls on them!"
This went on for some time, after which Matei returned to me and said with great pride:
"I kept the secret Mummy, he will never know!".
