i am pregnant with words

Dudes! I am writing again!

For the last two years my mind has been as a dry and depleted well but now it's all buzzing and blooming with ideas and words. The words have come back!

So I've been writing. Including the middle of the night stuff of needing to keep my notebook by my bed and waking up at 3am full of words and scribbling them half-incoherently in a frenzy of inspiration and insomnia and being as a zombie the next morning.

But words are exciting! The ideas are not for a new novel, they are to lend flesh and structure to an existing one that I worked on for NaNoWriMo so it's just like meeting a friend you haven't seen in years and discovering they are just as shiny and lovely as you remembered.

So at the moment this is what I have: 47,000 words of which 46,000 are good. At the moment those words are all over the place and they need to be anchored and woven into a structure, but I was reading them over last night and I was deeply pleased with them (quite rare actually, I tend to be very critical of my own writing).

And I thought for the first time ever really that I might actually end up with a novel that's good. That's publishable. That's worth publishing.

Of course, I'm a notoriously slow writer. So writing the other 50,000 words may take a while (I have quite a small output, since I tend to edit as I write; because I'm a perfectionist with high-falutin ideas of standards).

But, a few things:

1) When I finish this thing is there anyone who would be willing to give of their time and their eyes to read the draft and tell me with honesty what they think of it? (i.e. don't praise it unless you genuinely mean it. I can live with criticism, and in fact tend to value it highly).

2) How do you go about getting a novel published?

3) Can rejection letters be made into a nice collage?

writing, glee
