Dog/Wolf: He is just too pretty for God to let him die. Bleeding profusely is okay, though.

Time Between Dog and Wolf

He's an undercover agent seeking revenge against the mob. She's his childhood friend and first love... and only daughter of the mob boss. Together, Shakespearean doom!

Suits! Guns! Mafia! Car chases! This drama is pretty much a sixteen hour movie, full of cliffhangers and action-adventure romance and tasty, tasty plot. It's the story of a messed-up vigilante who loses himself in his quest for revenge, and his love interest, the daughter of the man he's sworn to kill, and his brother, her fiancee. (Only in a kdrama.)

This is Soo Hyun.

He has... a few issues.

I know, right? A tortured, angsty hero in a kdrama? I don't know what they were thinking. (Actually, that's a lie, I know exactly what they were thinking -- "Make him bloody, broody and vulnerable, toss in a little PTSD, and then give him a scorching set of co-stars and let the chemistry fly!")

On the plus side, tormented Soo Hyun means loooots of delicious h/c with his love interest.

And I do mean lots.

And I do mean delicious.

Soo Hyun and Min Gi were raised as brothers, and they grow up to be best friends and government agents who play straddling games. But their love brotherly bond is tested by the mob! Gasp!!

Don't worry, it's pseudocest, you're only going to hell a little.

To make matters worse, they're competing for the same girl, who is engaged to one but in love with the other.

Face it: could you choose between them?

LOOK AT THOSE LIPS. We know how he got promoted.

Ladies love him. It's a tough life. :| :|

Undercover, Soo Hyun still looks like Lee Jun Ki, so I don't know how this is supposed to be inconspicuous. I guess the seedy Korean underground is full of movie stars with tangled, sweaty hair and face wounds... mmmmmm...

Min Gi does not approve! He's been knocked to #2 in the "fashionably injured" competition!

Soo Hyun takes the lead with wet bloody rage!

But Min Gi is gaining ground with woobie bruises!

It's a draw!! We all win.

But oh! Somehow, somewhere, someone is in pain, so let's make LJK feel it!

"MY LIFE IS MISERY AND ANGST... ooh, gardenias."

Soo Hyun roughed up and bound. N-no reason.

Are you ready...

Are you ready...

BAM! In a kdrama! Censors can't contain this level of pimp.

I do realize that for a complicated mobster thriller, I'm doing a terrible job pimping the plot. It's just, well, when the characters lounge around like this:

How am I supposed to focus?

****, cast: lee jun ki, genre: crimefighting, genre: gangs and mobs and yakuza oh my, genre: adventures in asskicking, *country: korea
