Paaaaaaaairs I love pairs so much! You might have more luck if you search for specific pairs?
Brasseur and Eisler are SO 80stastic but at the same time they're so badass and do the craziest moves and have a lot of fun. Lloyd Eisler is made of steel and Isabelle Brasseur is fearless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ccNTOF7zik - There Will Never Be Another Tonight, Isabelle doesn't wear pants, Lloyd wears a beater, it's amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdzG9SDXZDQ - Patricia the Stripper. You will not forget it quickly!
Jamie Sale and David Pelletier are my favorite skaters ever! They're just really good performers. (I'm linking to all exhibitions and pro stuff, not the serious competition songs because I like the routines to pop songs better, but they're great in competition too - their Love Story performance that won them the gold is one of the best ever.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fmnHJmgwcI - Radar Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJZcmB6vsq8 - Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' - never too much Journey in your figure skating! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoAjXcXWB1E - Rockin' the Boogie
Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman are fun to watch because they're kind of Brasseur and Eisler's proteges so they do a lot of the crazy moves too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSMpiTs1vrg - Vertigo
I also recommend Shen and Zhao, the first Chinese team to be serious competitors on the world stage, whose coach had no clue what pairs skating was because China had been so cut off, and he was laughed at at his first competition! And Shen and Zhao went on to win the World Championships multiple times - the first time was here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qqHEd0Bq9o Shen had hurt her leg and they had to numb it and they still did this amazing performance. It makes me cry a lot, although usually I listen to the Eurosport commentary and they get so into it too and its beautiful.
Gordeeva and Grinkov are basically the best pairs team ever, in history, probably that ever will be. Here's the program that won their second gold medal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pScMmrR2QUE (Them, Jamie and David, and Shen and Zhao are married.)
Jenni Meno and Todd Sand are an adorable also married pair, and Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze are amazing and totally awesome.
. . . oh my god i love skating too much. I CAN HOOK YOU UP WITH DOWNLOADS TOO PROBABLY. XDDD
I've already dug into half your links, though I had to watch them with the sound off because commentary drives me crazy. XD (Part of the reason I always go for montages.)
Your tidbit on the Chinese couple made me clutch my heart and go "awww!"
*watches more* I can tell this will be another night claimed by youtube.
Nooo, the exhibitions have almost no commentary! Especially anything where you see fancy lighting because that'll be a pro performance.
For dls your best bet is this forum: http://www.fsvids.net/forums/index.php? but I don't know what it's like getting membership these days. Also a lot of the links aren't working right now - we're so far from the last olympics that interest is probably minimal. If there's any pairs programs that you really want, or want in better quality, I have a pretty good collection for most of the people I linked to above - especially Sale & Pelletier, Gordeeva & Grinkov, and Berezhnaya & Sikharuldize. Plus I have a lot of the Stars on Ice group numbers. So I think I can upload those if need be.
I did take a pass to see if I could find some links that actually worked - although some stuff just downloaded automatically from mediafire without giving me a link, which was unexpected! (Let's pretend I'm not spreading these links around >.>)
OMG. If I'd known you knew so much about figure skating, I would've been picking your brain A LOT SOONER. And here I thought I was giving you cool youtube links you'd never seen!
*downloadssss*
I'm glad to hear about the exhibitions. XD I'm especially excited for the gold medal performances since those are pretty much guaranteed to be amazing.
Hahaha oh my god, three years ago, figure skating was my Johnnys. My ipod is still half JE, half figure skating. And pairs is my favorite! And I never get to talk about it with anyone and my brain is stuffed full of figure skating knowledge! Who's good at which moves, who's married to whom, what events are good, which were the best years for particular skaters. . .
S&P's gold, Love Story, is definitely a stand-out program, as is S&Z's Turandot - those are both the "performance of a lifetime" type of thing, total perfection in the technical stuff but also the expression and performance. But if you want "guaranteed to be amazing" it's gotta be Gordeeva and Grinkov! There's always a feeling of, like, comfort when I watch them, because they're perfect. Occasionally there's a bobble, but they're always perfectly in unison, Katia always has the perfect form, their gestures, their choreography is beautiful. . . you can just watch it and know that everything that you're seeing is exactly as it should be.
XDD If you ever find yourself having an opinion about any of the skaters or programs or anything that you want to share, please let me know! I will be happy to discuss it with you. :D
Also it seems I will be watching Triple before Bara no nai Hanaya because each episode is one dl link as opposed to 8 parts. O.o
Are those subbed, though? I generally prefer hardsubs cos I like being able to watch things in quicktime rather than VLC.
If I motivate myself to get the first couple episodes I should be able to motivate myself to get the rest. . . and I'm actually not dling a lot of stuff just now (except for the skating) so it might not be too much of a pain.
Also I haven't gotten around to posting this at je_macros yet but I need to share it with someone:
Yeah, I got the softsubs for Triple already. (I always worry that MU will tell me I hit my limit even though all I want is a tiny sub file so I got them all beforehand.) It just looked like the 4-part Barahana might not have had subs because I didn't see it mentioned on the site.
That scarf ruins so much of the Voyager promotional materials for me. XD Although it is hilarious. Also, strangely enough just before I got your comment I was reading porn by someone with a scarf fetish, so he kept having everyone wear silk scarves on their heads? Not having such a fetish, it kind of really hampered my enjoyment.
Have you seen Triple yet? Lots of great figure skating scenes. :D It made me youtube iceskating/trick montages. >___>

http://www.mediafire.com/?nrnxezgx4j3 an exhibition from a while ago
http://www.mediafire.com/?0wrfmd3yyz0 I think this is their gold medal winning long program
http://www.mediafire.com/?d4pow4uymtt can't remember what this is but it's from Stars on Ice so there shouldn't be commentary
Gordeeva and Grinkov:
http://www.mediafire.com/?bdhv12xjzmw if this is the performance I think it is, it's ridiculously adorable. . . I'm in love with Katia too
http://www.mediafire.com/?gdtynnzzztw I think this is to Gershwin songs? I can't remember
Ina and Zimmerman:

Ugh, I could not find Sale and Pelletier videos that worked. But I have loads. . . in ipod format if nothing else.
Also please love Jeffrey Buttle with me even though he's not pairs! He's super cute!
