Usually I try not to bug people with alerts and stuff, but I think this is really really important. PVC LaVena Johnson was raped and murdered on a military base while she was serving in Iraq--and the military ruled it a suicide. Her family is trying to push Congressmembers to reopen the investigation to fix this foul, foul cover-up.

This one article in the New Zealand press has covered it more than we have here--it's typical U.S. press indifference to the murder of women of color. Her family is organizing almost completely on the internet.
Seriously, read it. Please. The details are disgusting, which matters only to let you know just how far the military goes to cover this up. And honestly?? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY. All it does is send the message that the military doesn't give a damn about their own soldiers. Especially their women soldiers. There's NO REASON to throw your own soldiers to the wolves, on behalf of what? Fuckin rapists? It's the foulest thing I can imagine.
