To my friends, old and new, I would like to invite you all to a new forum I set up:
politics4realI think that much of the vehement disagreement today comes from being trained to favor rhetoric over reason and the fostering of divisions between groups. This then, is my latest attempt to find common ground, to explore new perspectives, to discuss

Actually, I found you from a posting on someone else's lj account. I've been following friends links and looking for people who's posts add meaningful information and/or perspective into a discussion.

That does bring up an interesting point though, there are probably quite a few others like yourself that may be interested in the information but have not wanted to post.

I also found politicsforum to be overwhelmed by those who are more interested in attacking commenters than in creating a discussion; this is a habit that it is easy for me to fall into as well, and so when I decided to set up my own forum I worked on creating rules that would dissuade myself and others from doing so.

You are most welcome in this forum, particularly being Australian, because I hope to get to the roots of many of these issues, which I believe in many cases are multi-national and/or universal. Please feel free to post ideas or questions that you may have, these are also excellent seeds for a discussion.

Thank you for asking about the personal add, it is no problem at all if you do not add me to your friend list. I don't talk about much of my personal life on this site, but if I did I would probably have a friend (and group 'personal friend') lock on it myself. ;^)
