I go to sleep and Jo Rowling gives an interview? Damn, the things I miss D: My flist exploded and there are 5 pages of post already on Journalfen. It's like waking up to a whole new world in which mentors in children's books can be canonically gay. It's bizarre feeling. Also, quite fabulous. And I'm so, so, so not surprised! XPPPPP
Go Rowling go! The wank and the awesomeness of gaydore kind of makes it up for you sinking Neville/Luna further in the same breath. But hey, Hannah is a cutie and I like her. A part of my mind still goes all "wrong blonde!", but I'm warming up to the idea of that marriage with her description of it. How about a threesome? Interhouse smexxors FTW! Luna's hubby can come too, whatever.
Meanwhile, a part of me is all "awww" because my gay British magical mentor figure in my original fiction isn't that original anymore. Still, my Randall Jenkins and his boytoy husband secretary approve of gaydore wholeheartedly.
And since I'm not contributing to the spam in YOUR flists, I'll end the interest/icons memes I have pending.
I can only find the ones Laurus asked me. I thought at least two people had pointed interests at me? Oh well, if you've asked me, poke me.
astrology: It's not like I believe in horoscopes, because it's not what this is about and I don't. Astrology also refers to interpret the position of the planets the day you were born, and consider the ways it could've affected your personality or future. Like Yuuko Ichihara says, just checking the sun (also known as your "zodiac sign", but it's more accurate to call it "sun sign") isn't correct -I for one I'm too sensitive and grumpy to be a Gemini, and there are reasons for that. Personally, astral charts intrigue me. And I'm convinced Mercury Retrogrades are out to get us.
dolphins: I like sea animals. Aquatic mammals are weird creatures. But I really like dolphins and orcas like most normal girls because they're so fucking cute. But also, dolphins are clever, and the wave-echo system they've developed seems really neat. Swimming with dolphins must be the shit, even if they smell of fish and move too much. Funny enough, my mom thinks they're my favorite animals, while probably I like ducks or penguins better.
howl's moving castle: So I liked the movie, but the book by Diana Wynne Jones is AWESOME. It's so meta in fairytales, and the few magic they show is shiny, and there's the power of words, and daily dimensional traveling (where are the crossovers?!), and "more than you bargained for", and being cursed because you want to be, and crazy family shenanigans. Also, the main pairing. It's love. It's SNARKY HET the way I like it. And they annoy the crap out of each other, but they still fell in love and live happily ever after (sorta).
kero-chan: Oh, he's the shit. Gotta love how the imponent guardian of an epic magic seal containing this dangerous power... is a cute thing with a big stomach who loves games and flashiness, most of the time (and he most probably was like that in precanon days anyway). What I like about Kero is how he was the first mascot I saw with such a defined personality. He's funny and loyal in his own way. (Ah, I forgot: he's a character from Card Captor Sakura)
neville longbottom: BADASS. Er, I mean. I'll try not to spoil the last Harry Potter book here, but the way Neville grew up and got courage while still being the same character in essence is great. He has both an adorable and a badass side, and that's rare. I'll confess I didn't give him a lot of thought besides the occasional lulz or awws before Goblet. And it was in Order that he blew my mind, and not only because of his better magic performance (St. Mungo's = ;_;). But he's the proof that clumsy geeks can do epic shit and be future role models.
star wars: I don't have to explain what it means, right?? This haunted my teen years when there wasn't an Internet, so I was safe from the whiny fanboys and could never get into fandom. I'm not sure why I like(d) it so much, truth to be told. The special effects were already old cheesy shit by the time I marathoned the three movies (no, I'm not into the prequels except for staring at Jedi!Ewan McGregor eyecandy; only OT for me, kthx). I guess the plot was a good twist on clichés for me at the moment. But really, the most geeky SW thing I've done was reading planets names at the official page's encyclopedia. So I'm casual fan today. Also, Han/Leia OTP!
zelda: The Legend of Zelda is the great Nintendo franchise after Mario. I only got into it after Ocarina of Time, a game that hooked me up in a way only Okami could pull off again. But if I have to be honest, I only like some games of the series. The NES games overwhelm me, and I'm perpetually stuck at A Link to the Past. There are so many Zelda games I've left in the middle (ALttP, Oracle of Seasons, Minish Cap, Wind Waker, Twiligh fucking Princess...) because I suck at them or pick them up months later and had forgotten what I was doing anyway. So I'm a bad Zelda fan, but I love/hate playing them.
maypirate asked me about these icons:
Dunno, I figured I needed a stock icon that had nothing to do with fandom. That's a seagull in a dock. I found it cute. I added a joke in the keywords (its name is Jonathan) referring to a book I really liked when I was a little girl.
The art is from XXXHOLiC. Himawari mentally compares Kimihiro Watanuki -the main character- with an angry kitty. That's her mental rendition of Watanuki arguing with Doumeki and it's pretty accurate XD So kittyhiro is my cutesy bitchslapping icon, even more effective during CLAMP-related bickering.
Actually, it's wrong. It should say 1.70m. But anyway, the art is from CCS. It spawns from one of Takashi Yamazaki's lies to skeptical girlfriend Chiharu Mihara. This kid keeps making random shit up to amuse himself and others (and since they're children, sometimes they believe him!) In that scene, he was saying that emperor penguins could grow up to a human height or taller. I find it LULZ. Any similarity to a Monty Python sketch about the scientific method is probably a coincidence.
That's Fakir from Princess Tutu. He rocks. And I'm not explaining why he's sitting in front of a desk with such a defeated face because it involves a big fat spoiler for some aspects of the series. But I still have that icon as my "writer's block" one because the imagery is just right. Except I don't write at hand and I hate tea, but it still looks nice. And it's Fakir, goddammit!
It's a bit of a joke, actually. In most of my fandoms, there's a lot of wizards/magicians too willing to get drunk, be it for fun or personal reasons. Actually, it's hard to make a list of legal-aged magicians who DON'T drink. So the personal cracktacular conclusion is that there's a link between magic and alcohol. Besides, considering Yuuko's lousy job, or Clow's ability to see how his descendants will mess shit up, it's just common sense for them to drown that shit in booze. Fay also drank a lot in the early series. So, magic drove them to drink! Not limited to CLAMPverse, but it's especially fitting in that fandom.
Also, onmyoudo in CLAMPverse can drive you to smoke. Trufax.
That's art for Okami, my favorite videogame EVAH. I just picked a random icon with Amaterasu (the wolf) from the ones I snagged. I thought the composition looked realy warm-colored. And the apple looks tasty.
This is from an anime series called Denno Coil. There are these virtual hacking software/pets/servants one of the characters -a girl nicknamed Isako- owns called mojo. She has this squad of mojos she sends to do her bidding sometimes. I find the mojos so fluffy and jumpy and fuck, I want one. So here are some mojos hopping. It's hypnotic, isn't it? @___@
