I purchased Watchmen last week or whenever it came out and have been watching it repeatedly since then, taking breaks for Dollhouse and some Dr. Who. I don't really understand Dr. Who love. I like the show alright, but I can go either way. It never seems to go deep enough for me, but the same could be said for Torchwood. The difference between Torchwood and Dr. Who, for me, is Ianto Jones and the overall tone of Torchwood. I haven't seen Children of Earth yet, and I am chomping at the bit for it.
But yeah, Watchmen is still as awesome as ever. I know that everyone had terrible reviews of this movie but I thought it was brilliant. Zack Snyder obviously had a lot of love for what he was doing and the movie is beautiful. It was perfectly cast (I am slowly coming around to Malin Ackerman, who plays Laurie, but most of her delivery falls flat still) and the details, oh the details. I can't imagine it any better. The music is also extremely well done. Music can make and break movies for me, personally, so the great music in this movie is just an added bonus. (On a side note, is it weird that I am totally in love with Billy Crudup's Doc Manhattan? I love Billy Crudup SO much so I wonder if I'm biased or something but I think it was great.)
I also saw the Dollhouse episode "Epitaph One," which was not as cool as I was expecting but I will watch anything Felicia Day is in. She is wonderfully goofy and nerdy and a talented person that should be cherished. For those who haven't seen The Guild, it is ridiculous-crazy good.
Mmm. I have finished editing a manuscript for a friend, which has basically eaten away all of my time since graduation (that and having fun, doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and the bracing search for a job), and I definitely feel the need to flex the old writing muscles. I haven't written in such a long time and I need to. I can't seem to pick a fandom to start out with though--every time I open up a new document the words seem on the tip of my tongue and slightly out of reach. Frustrating, I tell you, especially when I am squirming and digging for some really good Nu!Kirk/Spock fics (though all the Spock/Uhura is AWESOME), but those are seriously lacking (not to say that the ones out there aren't good, there just isn't enough!) and I am HONGRY and might just try to make it myself.
Bah. So, whatcha been up to?
