Southern California trip

We have a favorite hotel in Southern California that we go to...and it's right on the Ocean. It's where we went for our first ever vacation, as well as where we got engaged. We try to stay on the same side all the time, the pool side, so we get a great view of the ocean and the view of the pool at the same time. Needless to say we were looking forward to our vacation.

We left on Thursday a little later than we had thought we were going to leave..and due to Los Angeles traffic got into Southern California around 6 PM or so. We checked in, found that our 'normal' place where we get our room was being renovated, so we got upgraded complimentary to a different part of the hotel...where we were really right on the water. We got unpacked, and then ready for dinner...which was the restaurant with the hotel, and was right on the water (it's a theme-grin). We made reservations for Friday and Saturday evening after dinner, as we knew it was going to be busy. Did I mention they have a turn down elf? :) That is so awesome.

Friday, we woke up to the Ocean just crashing away ...mmmm, great sleep..I wish all my sleep was that refreshing..we were getting ready and was watching the ocean on the balcony and saw....fins in the ocean, like about 50-100 yards out. We watched for a while, and it turned out to 4 dolphins swimming around. I took some pictures, I hope they come out. Anyway, we went to breakfast, (mmmm...fresh OJ) then we went to Newport Beach and Costa Mesa for the malls and shopping...and looking at koi fish. We then went back to Laguna Beach and shopped around that area..just relaxing and enjoying the weather. We had lunch at Pasta Pomodoro's version in So Cal, and then shopped some more. We then went back to the room, relaxed for a while, then went to dinner, then came back to the turn down service, and relaxed and went to bed. Oh and I called my dad for his birthday.

Saturday, we woke up, did a little run on the beach for exercise, then took a shower, had breakfast...and realized it was getting gray and foggy. We spent the afternoon in the room listening to the waves crash on the beach, watching Gladiator on the laptop, reading a book out loud, and just enjoying the day. We went to the gift shop and did some shopping there too. We had dinner again at the hotel, again turn-down, and just went back to reading and relaxing before bed. I called my brother for his birthday and wished him good luck for the draft.

Sunday, we got up early, packed a little, had breakfast, packed some more, and then got out the door, to come back in the afternoon.

Good vacation. :)
