I just got back from the hospital again and things are looking up. Patients are only allowed visitors every two hours for 15 minutes, so that kind of sucks, even if it does make sense. But since there was no surgery today, I got to sleep in to the godly hour of 9 AM. (God I'm old if that's sleeping in! But I went to bed at midnight and 9 hours in one night > 13 hours in three nights.)

I went to the hospital for the 11 o'clock visiting 'hour'. Grandpa acutally seemed like he was doing pretty well. He's still not allowed to move very much (and I doubt he could if he wanted to), but he woke up while we were there and recognized everyone. He couldn't talk because he's still intubated, but he squeezed my hand (and everyone else's) and gave my grandma a kiss. He was particularly glad to see her (as I imagine he would be).

Grandma's doing better today. She actually got some sleep last night, which is a vast improvement over the night before. So we're doing relatively well, all things considered. And thanks to everyone for asking after him (and me), it means a lot.

For now, though, I'm going back to the hospital for the one o'clock visit and then I will head back to Saint Louis.
