To follow up from the previous post (which is blocked to some people)...
Life isn't fair.
But this time, it doesn't bother me that much.
My Mom is an excellent cook. She can cook up quiches, pasta, pizza, you name it. She can conjure up Chinese, Japanese and even Korean food.
But she really, really sucks at baking.
Here's what I mean by suck.
A couple of days ago, she bought this pre-made chocolate-chip cookie mixture. She bought all the baking equipment. And on Sunday, she happily went into the kitchen, tied on her apron. She mixed the batter with flour and eggs, according to the instructions.
And, still following the instructions, she plopped several spoonfuls on the baking pan, put it in the oven...
And it didn't rise.
No, it didn't.
So she just went on and on staring at the oven, with a puzzled frown on her face, and her frown deepened as the blotches started to spread instead of rise, and soon enough, the entire pan held one flat slice of chocolate-chip pancake goo.
After it baked, we tried it, and it tasted like CAKE.
Reason:
1) She forgot to preheat the oven.
2) She put heaping spoonfuls on the baking pan, instead of teaspoons.
Sometimes, life just doesn't get any more amusing than this.
