Turn Left Onto Memory Lane

Feb 19, 2011 01:23

On this day twelve years ago, my younger son showed his first hint of stubbornness. I had checked into the hospital on February 18, 1999, to have labor induced. At about 11:30 in the morning, I told my then-husband, "You just watch. This baby will be born by midnight."

Sean Patrick made his bawling entrance into this world at two minutes after midnight, on February 19, 1999. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches long. Labor was induced because it was believed my due date had been exceeded by a week. Turns out little Sean was ejected three weeks early. I'm convinced this had a profound effect on his personality; the boy will not be rushed into anything until he's damn good and ready.

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago on his first visit to Joe's Crab Shack. He'd kill me if he knew I was sharing it.

My baby may be 12 now, but he's promised to always be my baby.
