...you'd be 79 today!

Oh, Harvey Milk. A great man: a figure for hope, for real change. His speeches, when I hear his voice in archive footage on YouTube, brings tears to my eyes. I've found myself crying before when I hear him say 'You've got to give them hope.' I'm crying now as I type.

He was taken from us thirty years ago. To be honest, I don't think I've gotten over it, and that was a decade before I made the scene. I'm sorry, Harvey Milk, I'm so sorry - but I'm not sorry that your courage has fed my own. I'll never regret being gay. And I will never forget your memory.

Happy birthday, old man. Fair skies wherever you're sailing now.
