5 Questions

At work I've been selected to take part in "Leadership Journey" which is this training course on how to be a good leader.  It's a small group of us, about 10, from all different departments of my organization.  It's pretty lame (generic videos from "experts", discussion questions about being a leader, and quizzes).  It gets me out of actually working for 2 hours every Tuesday, so I don't mind.  The part that I do like is when we are asked these questions to get to know one another.  It's usually a batch of random questions that we answer at the beginning of class and share with the group.  I really liked the questions from this past week, so I thought I would share them with all of you!

1. What is your greatest achievement? Obtaining my Master of Science Degree in Library and Information Science and buying my house (I couldn't pick just 1!)

2.  Who do you admire most? I chose my dad because he came to the United States when he was 25, didn't really know English and started with nothing.  He was able to work himself up the corporate ladder, have a family, and live a good life.

3. What is your ideal vacation? This was hard to narrow down to a realistic vacation! I chose traveling through Europe for a month by train.  I would want to hit Germany, Switzerland, northern Italy, and France.

4.  Favorite book: The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.  I wrote a whole post about this book, so I won't repeat myself here.

5.  The most fun you have ever had: When I was in Sorrento, Italy, we took a boat to the island of Capri.  From there we got on another boat for a tour of the island.  We stopped at the Blue Grotto, which is the cave where inside the water is the most amazing blue color who could imagine.  To get into the cave, there is a very tiny gap where a tiny row boat can slip through.  So you get on a row boat, 4 people max, and the old Italian guy as your guide.  When you get to the hole, the guide tells everyone to lay down on the floor.  He then grabs hold of a chain that goes from outside the grotto to the inside.  He then lowers himself as best as he can into the boat, and pulls the boat through the very tiny gap and then you are inside!  The space is amazing and photos don't do it justice.  It was such a fun time!
