I'm hosting Christmas Eve at my house this year so I'm going to be very busy today! Started out by going to my local market to pick up fresh bread. The store opens at 8AM and I got there at 8:15. The parking lot was already a zoo!! Couldn't believe it. Luckily all I needed was the bread so I was in and out very quickly. Came home and started on the Death by Chocolate that I'll be serving for dessert. It's a trifle with layers of chunks of chocolate cake, cool whip, chocolate pudding, and crunched up Heath bars. So good! The pudding is made and the cake is in the oven. Started a load of laundry, changed 2 light bulbs that were out and now I'm taking a break on LJ. I'm making lasagna for the main meal. So next is making all the meatballs and the sauce. At some point I need to clean, run the dishwasher, make the cheesy garlic bread and the salad, and put out the appatizers. I went pretty low-tech on those - just crackers, dip, and some cut up pepporini. One of my guests is bringing stuffed mushrooms. Can't wait to eat!
Tomorrow I'll be going to my sister's and I'm bringing two side dishes - a brocolli cassarole and baked cauliflower. Should be an easy morning!
Merry Christmas!
