The summer solstice, the longest day of the year, was on the 22nd. Posted this because there are folks who venerate the sun on that day, occult people treat that day as a high holiday, doing rituals and such. I was feeling really weighed down, depressed and angry that day, didn't know why until I realized what day it was, and that the dark side was active. Just trying to spit in satans eye, push back the darkness.
Out of curiosity, do you think that God would condone spitting in even Satan's eye? I do not know much about religion, but it seems like there is a theme of acceptance and gentleness and non-hate (or at least non-harm) towards enemies.
Also, at the risk of sounding naive, why is it dark that people were celebrating the sun? Is it that they were celebrating a conducive element of life other than God?
Yea, Jesus said "love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Maybe He said that because He understands that the real enemies aren't the people, but the demons inside the people who are doing the persecuting. I'm pretty sure he was talking about loving other people here, but when we talk about demons, pure love is like hydrocloric acid to them, it is so contrary to what they are, that when they come in contact with it they flee or are destroyed. God would condone spitting in satans eye, cause He's gonna do much worse to him.
There is nothing wrong with celebrating the longest day of the year and being thankful, but it is wrong to worship the sun, or any other created thing, exalting them beyond what they are. The only one who is at all deserving of our worship is the true and living God.
Then again, maybe it would be better for us to trust God all the way in regards to Satan. If we really want revenge though, it is probably ok with God if we take revenge on Satan, because he is the one who is trying the hardest to destroy us, and he is doing it all out of spite because he hates God so much, but he can't get to God so he goes after the thing that God loves most, and that's us.
