Recently, God has revealed to me something about his character. Some of you should remember watching Bugs Bunny cartoons on Saturday mornings. Remember how Bugsbunny seemed to have more personality than the other characters, even though he hardly said anything? God is alot more like Bugsbunny than most of us realize. Consider what it says in psalm 37.
The wicked plots against the just,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn the sword
And have bent their bow,
To cast down the poor and needy,
To slay those who are of upright conduct.
15 Their sword shall enter their own heart,
And their bows shall be broken.
You remember how the villains, were always sortof one dimentional in their single minded attempts to do him harm, while Bugsbunny was always calm, stoic, and wry. He would suddenly somehow just appear there in the middle of one of their schemes to say "Eeeeeea. ts ts ts ts. Whats up dock."
(I seem to remember, Bryan, another character we created with a certain stuffed animal, that had a simmilar calm, stoic and wry manner. It was the same one with which you actually carried on an audible dialogue with for a number of years, which you later interpreted to be your subconsciouse.)
Or, remember the movie "Clerks." you remember how Silent Bob had this air of wisdom, even though he barely said anything? Consider Proverbs 17:28.
"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue."
There is a good reason for this expectation. Like all of us, Silent Bob would eventually prove himself to be more foolish than he appears if he opened his mouth and talked for a long enough period of time, because he is Human. But there is one who is silent(by our standards), who realy is wise. As we earnestly peer into the nature of existence, putting aside what we think we know, even about ourselves, we will catch glimpses of, and begin to see his face, a glimmer of his smile, and his eyes, beaming at us in eager, knowing encouragement.
