It appears that Braveheart, one of the formerly feral kittens that Steph stole, is epileptic. His first seizure happened late October right after we came back from the vet. We rushed him right back, they did some bloodwork, and the only odd thing they saw was low potassium levels. He's been getting vitamins almost daily since. The second seizure was early/mid December. This happened early one morning. Quite early and I first thought someone was breaking into our house, as there was a loud enough of a crash and bang to wake me out of sleep. And this morning marks the third time it's happened. Another crash and bang, another morning being woken up out of sleep first thinking that someone's breaking in.
Braveheart's doing fine. He's had his breakfast and is purring, and already getting into typical kitty trouble. He always comes around a couple of minutes after the seizure and is perfectly fine. I've learned not to hold him during or after one of his fits. First time happened right after we let him out of his carrier, resulting in him pissing all over my leg. Damn those involuntary bodily actions. Second time I was holding him afterwards, and when he came around, he was a bit disoriented and scratched me up quite a bit. I still have scars on my chest and probably on my head as well. This time, I just pet him while he was on the ground and am happy to report suffering neither being pissed on nor scratched.
So I guess we'll take him in today and get some more blood work done on him. In the mean time, it's almost 5am, and I'd like to get another hour of sleep before I'm supposed to get up for work.
