Yes, the city itself requires vast amounts of studying, if we're to ever leave it.

However, the many different worlds present in this one city are an unprecedented opportunity! I could learn of things not possible in my world!

It's a little overwhelming, I admit. I should have come up with a better system on what to study.

Mm. True.

It would seem simple enough. Study whatever most interests you, or whatever you have a chance to.

Hmm. That is true.

Oh! I did have a question for you, about the Wood.

Oh? And what would that be?

You said that she speaks.

I was wondering if you could elaborate-- and perhaps describe the language.

Well, you see, it's not really a language. It is rather hard to explain, but when the Wood wants you to do something, She tells you so in tiny pushes and murmurs, not full out commands. I suppose it would be best to say She shares her emotions with us. In the same way, She imparts knowledge. It appears within us, and then She encourages us to do certain things with this knowledge.

It would be blasphemous of me to say so, but She is very... Selfish. I returned to my village after my banishment, and my sister, Jote, told me that the Wood was jealous of the Humes that had taken me. Not long after we took our leave, we were attacked by a rather large creature that is believed to be a guardian of the Wood.

Fascinating!!

If the Wood can speak, no doubt it has a meaning for conveying these thoughts. Communication implies some sort of feeling, no batter how base. I see this is true in the instance of the Wood as well.

How strong are the implications the Wood gives, if you can remember properly?

It depends on the message, really. If it is something as small as, "The rainy season will be coming early this year", the feeling will be slight, more like an instinct. If it is important, such as "The village will be attacked soon", it is something you cannot ignore, a sort of gripping feeling that turns into discomfort if you continue to ignore it.

Oh, marvelous!

I would wager that the Wood would be unique to your world.

Oh, I wish I could see, at least once!

She is beautiful, though She does not take well to outsiders. Even I may not pass through without being attacked.

It is best that I left. [Hint of uncertainty in Fran's voice? GASP.]

I see...

It's a decision that you've accepted the consequences for, correct? Then... there's no looking back now.

Certainly not. I am considered dead to my people. Although, good things have come of it.

Consequences aren't always bad, of course.
