"Oi...it's getting dark." Lovino said. "I'll go to sleep and dream of my beloved Vanya." Natalia replied.Everyone sweatdropped at what she said."W' sh'ld g' f'nd a pl'c'e to st'y." Brewald suggested pointing to a nearby cottage.
"Good point." Eduard agreed.
"Then let's go!!" The Italian shouted already halfway there, "Hey,wait for us!!!" Adorea shouted while the others catch up with him. They soon came towards the cottage when it started to rain and everyone rushed inside. "it even rains here?!" Lovino stated in surprise wiping himself with a towel.
"Well what did you expect?floating fireballs and skulls?" Natalia said sarcasm in her voice.
The cottage, they werent expecting was really wonderful.Berwald was the first to notice that the furniture inside resembled the ones he made,Natalia recognize the door as the one who separated her and Ivan once.while Lovino recognized the plates as his and his brother's.
"Its wierd, everything's so prepared, its just like they were expecting us." Adorea commented.
"Is this even real?" Lovino asked himself.
"Yeah,it is." Natalia replied.
Eduard, meanwhile was looking through some books on the nearby shelf,"It's wierd this are all the titles of my favorite books, now I wonder if my laptop is here too" he said to himself.
"Even a basket of tomatoes appeared right in front of me!" Lovino chuckled. "S' d' y'u g'ys w'nna e't?" Berwald suggested going inside the kitchen,"No,thanks I'm still ful from earlier." Adorea replied while Lovino followed carrying the basket.
"Hehehe....this is great!!!" Lovino dropped the basket. "It's a picture of my Vanya." Natalia smiled. Eduard took a look at it and paled,It was Ivan with them."ah..hehe.." he laughed nervously, but Natalia didnt notice she was too distracted on why Toris was so near him.
"It's that guy again..." Natalia remembered.Toris was the one who likes her but she kept disagreeing on going on a date with him...it only lasted for 3 minutes. Eduard remembered all that when,Feliks, his bestfriend, burst through their houses one night and related the story.
After Lovino and Berwald ate, everyone soon got tired and decided to sleep "We'll just take a look at everything again" they agreed. "Hey,you haven't told me your story,Eduard-kun."Adorea grabbed his arm."Oh....I almost forgot about that.Okay then."Eduard replied.
They watched as the others went up to their rooms and they both sat down in the couch. "The truth is..." he hesitated but went on "is that I was on that plane because I was running away."
"From what?" she asked
"From everything in my old life,Ivan,My brothers and my country, because Adorea..." he trailed off.
Adorea hugged him gently and whispered to go on "its ok" she said
" Because I couldnt take it anymore seeing us abused, and they arent even my real brothers,we were just hired to be partners of Ivan's company." he finished
"Eduard..." Adorea whispered as she hugged him again,He let himself be hugged and smiled wearly "I wish I could go back,go back to the time when I ever decided to run away and change everything." he whispered.
They sat there for a while until,Adorea decided to nudge him slighty,he looked at her "Tell me...another one..."she requested
"Another one?" he chuckled. "Okay, okay, another one then." he added.
"This story came from one my clients from Greece..." he stated "This story is about two lovers named Orpheus and Eurydice...Orpheus was a musician, his mother gave him the gift of music...."
"tell me more" Adorea said hoping this story would make him feel better.
"The very earliest musicians were the Gods. Athena was not distinguished in that line, but she invented the flute although she never played upon it. Hermes made the lyre and gave it to Apollo who drew from it sounds so melodious that when he played in Olympus the Gods forgot all else."
"Next in order came a few mortals so excellent in their art that they almost equaled the divine performers. Of these by far the greatest was Orpheus. On his mother's side he was more than mortal. He was the son of one of the muses and a Thracian prince. His mother gave him the gift of music and Thrace where he grew up fostered it.The Tracians were the most musical of the peroples of Greece. But Orpheus had no rival there or anywhere except the Gods alone. There was no limit to his power when he played or sang. No one and nothing could resist him."
Berwald suddenly woke up because he heard noises coming from downstairs and quietly went downstairs to see who's making noises. He saw Eduard and Adorea talking to each other...he knew that Eduard hasn't told his story yet. But seeing them together reminded him of his wife,Tino Vanaimonen,he sighed how he really missed him with their dog and adopted son.so he would just listened from the safe place from the stairs.
"He must be really great" Adorea commented stiffling a yawn. "Hn...you sleepy?" Eduard asked. Adorea shook her head "no,im fine, please continue."
"Ok...where was I? Oh yeah...Little is told about his life before his ill-fated marriage, for which he iseven better known than for his music, but he went on one famous expedition and proved himself a most useful member of it.He sailed with Jason and the Argo, and when the heroes were weary or the rowing was especially difficult he would strike his lyre and they would be aroused to fresh zeal and their oars would smite the sea together in time to the melody."
"Where he first met and wooed the maiden he loved,Eurydice, we are not told, but it is clear that no maiden he wanted could have resisted the power of his song." "They were married, but their joy was grief. Directly after the wedding, as the bride walked in the meadow with her bridesmaids, a viper stung her and she died. Orpheus' grief was overwhelming. He could not endure it. He determined to go down to the world of death and try to bron Eurydice back.
By now both Adorea and Berwald were hooked "then what happened?" she asked eagerly
"He dared more than any other man ever dared for his love. He took the fearsome journey to the underworld. There he struck his lyre, and at the sound all that vast multitude were charmed to stillness. The dog Cereberus relaxed his guard, the wheel of Ixion stood motionless,Sisiphus sat at rest upon his stone,Tantalus forgot his thirst for the first time te face of the dread goddesses, the Furies, were wet with tears. The ruler of Hades drew nearto listen with his queen."
"what happend to him?" Adorea asked again
"Orpheus sang, 'O Gods who rule the dark and silent world,To you all born of a woman needs must come. All lovely things at last go down to you. You are the debtor who is always paid. A little while we tarry up on Earth. Then we are yours forever and forever. But I seek one who came to you too doon. The bud was plucked before the flower bloomed. I tried to bear my loss. I cound not bear it. Love was too strong a god. O King, you know,If you know that old tale men tell is true, how once the flowers saw the rape of Proserpine. Then weave again for sweet eurydice. Life's pattern that was taken from the loom too quickly. See, I ask a little thing, only that you will lend, not give, her to me. She shall be yours when her years' life span is full."
By now Berwald got tired and sat down the stairs, hey? you'd get tired too if you had been standing for 30 mins."Wow...so what happened?" Adorea asked excitingly
"Well...he drew iron tears down Pluto's cheek, and made Hell grant what Love did seek. They summoned Eurydice back to him,but upon one condition: that he would not look back at her as she followed him, until they had reached the upper world. So the two passed through the great doors of Hades to the path which would take them out of the darkness, climbing up and up. He knew that she must be just behind him,but he longed unutterably to give one glance to make sure. But now they were almost there, the blackness was turning gray;now he had stepped out joyfully into the daylight. Then,he turned to her."
Adorea gripped the pillow she was holding in her lap "Then she..."
"It was too soon;she was still in the cavern. He saw her in the dim light, and he held out his arms to clasp her buton the instant, she was gone. She had slipped back into the darkness. All he heard was one faint word 'Farewell.'
at this Berwald decided to go back to his room,he heard enough and was sleepy again. Also its wrong to eavsdropp on others.he thought.
mgsalang: "That's sad,so then they'll never be together." Adorea stated quietly hugging the pillow and resting her head on the Estonian's shoulder,"I guess they won't" he whispered stroking her hair.
"Although he was killed as well."Eduard added. The Filipina quickly looked at him "by who?"
"A band of Maenads"
