Infections, books, dolls, and Supernatural.

Tuesday, I had a plan.

I was going to get up at 8AM, pay my bills, call the doctor to get a refill on my pills (A little TMI, but I get UTI's ALL. THE. DAMN. TIME. Especially after my period and after sex. This particular UTI has been going on for 2 months, now), go out to Barnes & Noble and pick up my book, go to Wal-mart to pick up my prescription, then come back home and get ready for work.

So I pay my bills, then call the doctor. I ask if I can get a refill on my pills, the nurse says yes. I hang up and get ready to leave. Five minutes later I get a call back from the nurse, saying no, I can't get a refill, and that I have to go in to see the doctor. So I tell them that it'll have to be soon, as I have to leave for work at 1AM. They say 10:45AM. I say okay, but there goes my plans for the day.

I was at the doctor's office at 10:45AM, but, of course, I don't get to see the doctor until 11:30AM. She takes my urine sample and goes "WOW! There's a lot of blood in your urine!" Well, d'uh. This is why I wanted a refill on those pills, the ONLY thing that seems to work for my UTIs. So she gives me an antibiotic shot in the arm, prescribes me some antibiotics in pill form, and gives me TWO refills on my other pills.

So off to Wal-Mart I go, to pick up my prescription.

I get to the pharmacy and ask how long it typically takes from the time the doctor sends the script, to the time they receive it and get it ready. The pharmacist says 20 minutes ( have 40 minutes before 1PM, at this point). So I go buy Thad some Valentine's Day goodies, go grab a bite at Subway, and wait back by the pharmacy. Finally, at 1PM, I get my stuff. -.- And then I have to run out of there and to my car. I don't have time to stop off at home and pack my lunch, so I call Thad and ask him to bring me some food at 6PM.

I get to work and as soon as I step out of my car... I realize that I am wearing my snow boots and NOT my Z-Coils. FUCK! So I call Thad back and tell him to bring my shoes, too.

Wearing snow boots in a factory is not a good idea, ESPECIALLY for somebody with as bad of Plantar Fasciitis as I have. So I was limping real bad within minutes. Thankfully Thad felt it important that I get my shoes as soon as possible, so he brought me food AND my shoes at 5PM. Hooray for my hubby!

At the end of the night, though, the arm in which I received the antibiotic shot started hurting really bad. It feels bruised AND there's a bump. XP Owie... Even now it still hurts. Probably internally bruised, because you can't see it on the outside. But there's still a bump.

And my UTI feels kind of better. I have to call the doctor on Monday. They sent out my sample for culture, to find out which bacteria is causing the constant UTI's, and hopefully give me a solution. Because I am SICK AND TIRED of cranberry juice (I have been drinking it for TWO YEARS!) and acidophilus having no effect, whatsoever.

Today, I finally went out to Barnes & Noble. I had a pre-paid book to pick up, and a $25 gift certificate to spend.

My pre-paid book is Undine by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué.

Actually, the original book was written by De La Motte (who's real name is Friedrich Heinrich Karl de la Motte, Baron Fouqué. MOUTHFUL!) in 1811 in GERMAN. My copy is an umpteenth recent edition of the 1909 English translation by William Leonard Courtney and illustrations by Arthur Rackham.

I bought the book because I am changing a NaNo 2013 character. She was a Siren, and I decided she'd be better as an Undine. I did lots of research on Undines, and came across Rackham's beautiful illustrations. I decided that I needed this book.

I then came across a table set up for St. Patrick's Day. It contained books on Irish history, Irish jokes, Irish ghost stories, Irish Folk tales, books with beautiful Irish scenes, and a few novels based in or around Ireland. One in particular caught my attention and I just had to buy it:

Ireland's Pirate Queen: The True Story Of Grace O'Malley by Anne Chambers.

Since Undine had already been paid for, and Ireland's Pirate Queen was only $8, I walked around, trying to find another book with which to spend the rest of my gift certificate.

What eventually caught my attention was a series of books that, when placed in chronological order, revealed an image of a ship on the spines. The first book of the series turned out to be:

Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian.

"Oh-Emm-Gee!" I say, as I grab the second book of the series and flip it over to read the blurb, looking for one name in particular. I spot the name. "It's a series! Why haven't they made the rest of this series on the big screen?! MOAR PAUL BETTANY!"

I grab the first book to purchase.

"We have the movie..." Thad says, obviously not sharing my enthusiasm.
"But it's a series!!! Moar Paul Bettany, but in words!"

XD I am a dork.

Anyway, we also went to Meijer to see what new Monster High or Ever After High dolls were out. I found one, and then had the... misfortune of bumping into my old supervisor while at the register. I say misfortune because I was very uncomfortable.

You see... I write. I play music. I bellydance. I play videogames. I read comic books. At work, I am known as the Red Hulk. And then suddenly my old supervisor gets a glimpse of me having a GIRLY SIDE because I collect dolls. It's a recent girly side, too. I only started this three-ish years ago.

We also went to Best Buy because I had a $5 certificate to spend that was expiring soon. I wanted Supernatural Season 1, but they had seasons 2, 5, 7, 8... and maybe 9, I don't remember. So I bought an iTunes card, instead.

Truth be told, I never had any interest in Supernatural. And then I met nottuesdayagain, who lives, breathes, eats, and dreams Jared Padalecki the same way I do with Paul Bettany. So I learn a little about it every so often by her posts.

When Thad goes in to work later than 7AM, he'll watch Charmed/Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel/Supernatural on TV until it's time for him to leave. Sometimes I'll watch Charmed or Angel with him, but when Supernatural starts, I usually change the channel or walk away. Lately I've been watching a few episodes of Supernatural here and there. Yesterday Thad and I were watching an episode (one that he had already seen, but it was my first time), and I didn't understand the meaning behind something that Jared's character had said, so Thad explained it to me. And other things. And then he said that he'd like to watch the series from the beginning. I think I would like to, as well... I seem to have grown fond of Castiel. ;) Even if he doesn't show up until Season 4.

Guess I'll have to order it online.

We then went to Target to find more dolls, AND I totally bought my niece a minion t-shirt! :D <3 She'll look so adorable in it!

Anyway... Now I have to find the rest of my medical receipts so that I can file my taxes and GET MONEY BACK FROM ALL MY ULTRASOUNDS, FAILED FERTILITY TREATMENTS, CORTISONE SHOTS, PHYSICAL THERAPY, AND UTI MEDS. UGH! And then spend the return on England! :D

tax return, minions, uti, my secret girly side, monster high, lord paul bettany, niece, supernatural, england, books
