Who draws the lines to the realm of possibility?
Where do morals originate from society or the individual?
How much of a personality is inherent?
These are questions that have been rattling around in the catacombs of my mind, they have the characteristics of bouncy balls, at first they are this huge ricocheting presence that eventually peters out to rest in a corner until someone discovers them again. Well Pi tripped over them and they have now been brought once more to the forefront. Pi's a pretty interesting kid except the odd thing is he's this undefinable mixture of naivety(wc) and maturity, usually the two aren't found together but then again I guess neither is an indian boy and a bengal tiger. I found myself diverging in class today when we were completing the essay and wondering what would have happened if Pi had not lived in India. Would he have sought religion in the same manner? Would he appreciate life in the same way? Would he have conflicting values in faith and reason or harmony, which value guides him? Ah Pi. Some say that core personalities develop in the womb, thus we could construe that you would be you no matter the place, but is this true? Would one develop similarly surrounded with a different society, culture, morals? Do those morals come from within, or are they taught? Are there certain base morals of humanity that are continuously present? Do we even know? There is this endless sea that we have barely even begun to touch and yet are presumptuous enough to define it's bounds. However without bounds what would there be to breach Thomas Edison was though to be crazy, and now we hail him as a genius and have become dependent upon his revolutionary invention. Are bounds good do they insight ambition, or conversely are they detrimental and confining?
