Do you think Vetinari's ever read the Evil Overlord List? Sure, he's not evil, but I'm sure any advice would help to run a city like Ankh-Morpork. I can totally see him doing something like: I will hire an entire squad of blind guards. Not only is this in keeping with my status as an equal opportunity employer, but it will come in handy when the hero becomes invisible or douses my only light source.
