Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

What starts with the letter P? I'll tell you what starts with the letter P! ::sings:: P is for...

1. Prospectus. As in thesis prospectus. As in my fake prospectus that I won't actually be writing a thesis for, but is causing me great panic and angst as has been witnessed in my most recent posts. It's on the French Encyclopedie and the way it is ordered, if that has not been made clear in the posts as well. Warning: the whinging is not likely to stop for another six weeks, ie: when the term is over.

2. Phonetics (& Acoustics) is a class I'm taking this term for my major in speech and hearing sciences. I'm enjoying it immensely and the prof is excellent. Also, it is much easier than phonetics for a linguistics major.

4. Pacific Ocean, I live about two to three hours from it but have only visited it twice. One of those two times being when I actually lived two to three hours from the coast and was old enough to remember it. I really should try to visit it more often. It's lovely, and all the coast here is public.

5. Pathology, Speech-Language. My major, or really, my ultimate goal of a major, to be obtained in grad school. I love it so far and I hope that feeling never goes away. Now if I could just start narrowing down a specialty in my field....

6. Provencal poetry was something I studied last term in my Western Culture class. Half of it was funny and the other half had a fascinating mix of "the sacred and profane." Also, when it wasn't written in middle French, it was written in middle English, and I LOVE hearing middle English being spoken.

7. Park blocks. A strip of green in the urban jungle of my university campus. But it truly is very pretty and lovely to have in the middle of the city. Now that warm weather has made its way here and the rain is gone, I spend many of my afternoons there doing my homework.

8. physics. The bane of my existence fall term this year. It was a 101 class and incredibly stupid. The grad assistant, however, was adorably dorky and liked wearing drab colored clothing. I occaisionally felt sorry for him having to teach physics to a bunch of people who didn't really care.

9. Perseus. A online source for classical and renaisssance texts. I used it frequently last year in my Western Culture class, but mostly for my essay about Euripides Medea. Frankly, a good portion of me wishes to never have to use it again.

10. Pralines and Cream. The hardest ice cream to scoop at my job (and the are all. very. hard.) and the one invariably chosen by harmless elderly folk with whom you can't get annoyed.

Anyone else want a letter of the day?

Also! I thought some of you would be interested to know that there is a House look-alike in my sign language class. It took me one week to notice him and another three to realize why he looked so darn familiar! It's seriously House when he was in college, scruffy not!beard included. He usually sits nearby and it's so bizarre to be paired with him to practice signing.
