Leavenworth

Eric and I spent a nice 3 days in Leavenworth. Due to my insistence on both a king sized bed and a hot tub we ended up at the Icicle Inn, just a few blocks from downtown. The real win was that there is a free shuttle that picks up at the front entrance to the hotel and takes you to downtown Leavenworth running all day. Also appreciated was the "adults only" time in the pool and hot tub after 10pm.

Leavenworth has about 9 wine tasting rooms within a 4 block area, so we sipped our way through the town. Another win was the Cheesemonger shop. Dozen's of lip-smacking good cheeses and samples available for all of them. Tomorrow I will be signing up for the "cheese of the month" club and start getting 2 cheeses each month from them. I can hardly wait!

The drive was nice and both heading to Leavenworth and on the way home we stopped at roadside fruit stands and bought peaches. Surprise win of the weekend was the "donut peach". They are about the size and shape of a raised donut, and very yummy. You break them in half to eat them and the pit is very small. If you are a purist and avoid peach skin, the skin peels off as easily as an orange peel.
