This is a thoughtful, moving story. I like the idea of Jim as a tattoo artist and of him giving his art to his friends/crew. It gives him a sort of shaman-like quality, a spiritual captain as well as being the literal captain. And I enjoyed seeing the progression from Spock being too judgmental to being more open-minded and willing to explore different points of view.

i was thinking he would the vulcan calligraphy for his mother name, but he more the scientist so the planets will be!
