PUSHED: Jennifer Block
My sister, Brittany, and I went to see/ listen to Jennifer Block last night, author of Pushed: The Painful Truth about Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care in North America. I had grabbed the book, quite by accident, a few months back at the library when I was looking up parenting books on twins (cause they're just driving me nuts!) and read the first half. I then suggested the reading to my sister (who later that day found out she was pg and is now 16 weeks along). So we went, and as we left Britt said "I texted Chad and told him I either want to birth at the center (in Dayton) or have a homebirth. This morning she said she spoke with someone about the center and decided that may not be her best bet for what she wants, and that she now wants a homebirth. How exciting! She wants a local mom for her doula, and is now looking into midwives.
