Things I have learnt recently:
1. Small boys and penknives may be okay in Just William books; but not in real life. (Luckily, Jamesie still has opposable thumbs. Just.)
2. People who write books called things like 'The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People' aren't really that clever; or they'd make the first principle 'Highly effective people cultivate the habit of not dropping this book in the bath'. (Or maybe they've just never met me before?)
3. Small boys should not be allowed to support football teams or watch television. (SODDING Barcelona. James commented: 'Mum, he didn't cry THIS much when the hamster died!')
4. Never take your daughter shopping. (Even Phill warned me about this. 'She said she'd put a few cake ingredients in the trolley!' he wailed. 'But even I know you don't put alarm clocks in cakes!!'
I think that'll do for now.
We (me, Neil, boy hobgoblins, friend Helen, her boy hobgoblins, plus a load of Neil's bikey friends) are off camping to Towyn and going on the Tal-y-llyn railway tomorrow. Cath has declined, pleading carsickness and impending claustrophobia at the thought of being cooped up in a car with the boys for several hours (and Separation Anxiety from her Facebook and Twitter). I am not a happy camper and my packing efforts have so far discovered:
- the boys and I now seem to possess one age 7 kagoule thing between the three of us. (It is black, though..)
- James's shoe things for going on the beach are about three sizes too small (who gives them permission to GROW??)
- the sun cream and insect repellent which I thought I knew the exact whereabouts of seem to have grown legs and wandered off.
- I have no wellies which fit.
I could go on, but I'm bored myself and it's my list. I have been to Asda and bought some essentials (fruit beer, cake and lucozade) and managed to forget huge bottles of water. All in all I am feeling thoroughly rubbish at this; but in my defence I have easily found a football, the tennis racquets, some cricket stuff, a bucket and spade, and their fold flat scooters. Who needs to be dry and warm eh? Clothes and kagoules are overrated; we have toys and cake!!
See you on the other side...you never know, if my computer deigns to work again you might even hear more of this...
