I couldn't afford to get the train to work today. I ran out of money after deciding it'd be better to spend it on food than on travel. What I hadn't anticipated was that I would run out of food a week too early. So now I'm in Horwich. After five hours' walk. Well, five and a half. I'm exhausted, malnourished, and I have a six hour shift ahead of me. Good times!
For the next few months I've written up a financial plan. I don't know how that's going to work, but it involves not buying anything that I don't need, quitting martial arts for a short while and learning to cook cheaper things (The last time I cooked properly it cost me around £20. That was kitsune udon, which is essentially fried tofu with vegetables, udon noodles and really tasty soup).
This seems to be quite a grim prospect. But at the end of it all, I may well be in a better position to go to Japan for another study trip in April!! Which sounds like a joyful prospect. Especially the part where I go back to Osaka. I can't not. There's so many things I didn't get to do last time.
