I've had two people officially interested in my book, which means I really must finish it. But alas, I haven't the time whilst I'm at university. There's two languages to be learned, after which there's a job to be done. I will finish it though.
Also, after having studied BASIC Chinese for almost a year now, I've finally discovered what was wrong with the teaching technique. We had been taught strange, complex conversations such as how to get a new library card or how to discuss renting an apartment. However in Japanese, which is quite clearly my strong point, we were taught how to talk to friends and cultural rituals. The different lies in that, as well as the fact that I can say in Japanese, "The cat is behind the box next to the restaurant", but I would have no idea where to start in Chinese. And that's not from a lack of trying either. I've gone through most of my Chinese textbook and, granted, I can talk about hobbies, how to wish someone a happy birthday and stuff, but if I can't find the poor cat, what is my purpose in life? Perhaps it's a demonstration that the Chinese care more about their businesses than their cats. This isn't a prejudice. This is the New Practical Chinese Reader. Beware its wiles of deception and... making a complaint to your mother over the phone?!
I had five strange dreams the night before last. One involved the murder of two priests, one was about a drug factory posing as a children's charity, another was about a series of demonic possessions and I can't remember the other two. All the same, it made last night's Inception all the more amazing. I mean, I love dreams (in case you hadn't already guessed). There was even a time in my life where I thought the dream world more important than reality, but that stopped when I realized I couldn't project the dream into someone else's mind, no matter how much I tried. And yes, I was childish and... open-minded as I prefer to call it, to really try. But that film? It was win.
