It's SUMMER TIME!!!! I'm heading home in about 10 days because my parents are here (heehee) and we are going to Tasmania before I fly home for the holidays ♥ My backlog of travel posts is getting ridiculous so here's a happy post about Canberra :)
Canberra has a yearly month-long flower festival called Floriade, and it features lots of pretty floral displays - most notably tulips (one of my favorite flowers after my trip to Amsterdam, of course!!). I actually went last year too, but I think I was at a really ugly phase in life so I never posted photos HAHAHA.
Finally in Canberra after 4 hours! :)
Flowers! Flowers! Everywhere!!!
Bees feature quite prominently in this post because my friend and I were having a "Capture the Bee" competition. Yes, Canberra really is that boring, okay! (Just kidding. I love you, Canberra....)
I really loved this organ! It was playing lots of happy and classic tunes and it really added to the ~*~spring~*~ atmosphere!
The view (almost exactly unchanged from the year before bahaha)
Let's look at me, then. HAHAHAHA.
Cute ducky floating around in the lake!
I love this giant lake! It had the cutest birds just frolicking about :3
I LOVE this crazy blue chested bird! How can a bird have such pretty colors ^__^
Atas photo of a swan. I was actually getting annoyed because my friend sat at a bench and refused to move for 15 minutes to get "the perfect bird shot". Gah.
More bee shots. Heh heh. I took all these photos, and I totally won the bee competition.
!!!!!!!! I am most excited about the gnomes o m g. Here are a few of my favorite gnomes:
Super cute right? Soo creative and also well done! Much better than the ghastly looking ones in the first photo above.
Last photo at Floriade before we had to leave!
We spent the night playing mini golf (will show you the photo later) and having yummy mexican ^__^ Unfortunately we were meeting my friend's friends and I am shy among strangers (I SWEAR I AM!) so I didn't take any photos :(
Day 2!!! I really really REALLY wanted to go the the Australian War Memorial but bits of it were closed and I also had another agenda in mind so we ended up at the Questacon!
It was like Singapore's science center - but probably better! :) But unfortunately it was really dark so I took really little photos too :(
Uhm I liked this big fish.
Highlight of the questacon was this super fun free fall slide! :) Can't decide whether it was more fun to slide down the slide or watch my friend freak out.
My dream propeller cap that I see EVERYWHERE in Aussie. I don't know why I have never bought it.. it costs only 15 dollars but every time I see it I decide it isn't worth the money, then i go home and mope for 7 days. Sigh.
We then had to rush off back to floriade because......
I really really really wanted to paint my own gnome!!!!!!!
AHHH!!!! All the excitement!!!!!!!!
After 2.5 hours.... Our gnomes heehee! Mine is the Woody gnome of course! No one got the snake + boot joke! My friend painted Wally - and got SO many compliments. Humph.
♥ Woody is my love.
Anyway, my favorite flower of the trip wasn't the tulips..
It was this funny grumpy looking flower!!!
Can't get enough of it - looks damn funny and cute!
And the best part is that it's sooo tiny, so it looks like a grumpy flower grumbling about those big tall tulips but hiding in their shade. Kekeke.
Bye bye Floriade!! This year's presentation was a good year too :D
We had some time before we had to leave for Sydney so we went back to the golf course and hit some balls around!
Managed to catch a photo of the mini golf course from the day before! In case you didn't realize... all the holes are almost exactly the same HAHAHA. Simi sai lor least challenging course in the world.
We made a pit stop in Goulburn for about 20 minutes to have a rest...
And I met the funniest Giant Sheep in the world!!! How come I never knew that these Giant nonsense were
a thing in Australia?! Now I NEED to go out and find more.
By the way when I said that the sheep was a Giant, it really meant it. This is said sheep next to a random parked car. Wtf.
Even 7-11 is embracing the sheep culture thing!! Should have brought one of you home :(
So, despite Canberra not having all that much to do + having the worst mini golf course in the world, I know that I have to go back again some day once the war memorial is done! I'm unfortunately a junkie for such things. Till we meet again, Canboring- uh, Canberra!
