...have all been a part of my summer. I don't know about you guys, but I've been sweating balls all summer long in this Florida heat. The a/c has been broken at work, and it's like, 90 effing degrees inside the building. This has, of course, been affecting our ability to give guests the best experience when they come in to eat, and thusly affecting our business. Being on Universal property, Universal should be taking care of it, but it is going to cost $250,000+ for a new unit. So, they've been putting in temporary units to blow in air and try to keep the place as cool as possible. Not working out too well, but we'll see what happens next week when something else breaks lol.
I got my first set of stitches on Monday. I was standing on the bed, trying to wake Scott up so we could clean, and learned (the hard way) that the ceilings here are really low. The fan, which was on high, hit me in the back of my head and left a nasty cut. It wasn't too deep or long, but it sure bled a lot. Scott took me to the nearest urgent care walk-in center where they got me stitched up. 3 stitches, all of which come out on Monday. I have a nice welt, and it feels like the entire back of my head is bruised. I have now joined the ranks in my family of unnecessary and ridiculous head injuries.
Speaking of family, Leo broke the only item I have that I can call an heirloom. A beautiful porcelean figurine with a wind-up base that plays music, like what you would hear in a music box. Leo decided the bookshelf was where he wanted to sleep, and knocked it onto the ground when he layed down. I am hoping and praying Scott is able to fix it, because it means so much to me. I sobbed for a long time when it happened. I really don't have anything material that connects me with my family, so this one item is so very precious to me. I know that if he is able to fix it, I will be finding a display box to put it in. Thankfully, the figurine itself is intact. The base broke into large chunks, and Scott has already found a way to piece it all together. We just need porcelean glue, and a miracle. Mad skills would be helpful, too.
So, between this week, driving a Daewoo, being in serious debt, having the apartment catch fire, and cleaning up ridiculous amounts of cat pee, I am feeling quite down in the dumps. I would really like to find a cave to sleep in until summer is over.
