So I've finally figured out what I really want for my birthday. I'm just scared to ask my parents for it, cuz they might say no. Ya I'll be home all summer, but come September I'll be back at school again.. so again I've been thinking about it, I'll come home on the weekends... I've worked my schedule so that I can have Fri, Sat and Sun off, and possibly Thursday too. I'll have to work one of those days possibly, but that still leaves 2, possibly 3 days open to go home...if you haven't figured it out.. I really want a pet at home... a cat or a dog. I dont' necessarily want a kitten or puppy, I'm totally willing to adopt. I've found many sources that say that pets are good for people with depression.... and pets keep stress levels down too... keep you healthier (to a certain point) too. I can't really explain why I want a cat or a dog; I just do. I just keep thinking that my parents will say no cuz they might be moving soon, they go away often, I'm at school and that they might say that I won't take care of it like I say I will. I'm willing to put money into taking care of it, perhaps not the whole cost, but I'm willing to contribute. This being said, when I was in grade 12, I really wanted a laptop, and now I have one... my dad said I could replace it after 2 years or more... so since I've gotten this laptop, I've been thinking about getting a new one... so now I'm debating between pet and laptop, though the choice is easy... pet. I can live with a slightly outdated laptop for another few years. I'll be making an extra $2000 over the summer cuz I'll be at home... which I woulda spent on a new laptop.. but I think that I'd rather contribute it to having a pet...
Ok so cat or dog? I think at this point, I'd rather a cat. I had a bonding experience with my two miniature schnauzers, but not with the cat we had... it hated me... if we're going to adopt, then we'll go look at both, and I'll decide cat or dog then. My brother is allergic to cats and long-haired dogs... my dad's allergic to birds (yet I had a bird before) I'm allergic to dog hair too... just a minor allergy but sometimes I get a stuffed up nose from being around a dog for too long... I'm not too picky about what I get... well sorta.. I know what kind of cat I want... and what kind of dog (moreso a general sense), but I'm not too picky about what I get... if I'm allowed
If my parents allow me to get a pet, then it'll make birthday present getting much easier for everyone else... just get the pet related stuff.. toys, litter box (if its a cat), treats, cage/carrier, pet bed... not necessarily all those things, but some..
I just don't know how to tell my mum what I want.. it was easier when I was 7 and wanted the bird... we already had 2 dogs, fish and possibly 2 guinea pigs (don't remember exactly when we had those) and how do you say no to a 7 year old who saved up their money and is responsible... I asked my mum, and she phoned my dad and talked about it for 5 minutes or so, then said yes... ok I sorta slacked on my responsibilities, but I still did them.
*Sighs* As the days, hours and minutes count down till my birthday, I just don't know if I'll find the right moment and/or the courage to ask for what I want.
