It's about time I posted something, so here it goes-
Last week I went to my first book signing: D.J. MacHale, formerly of Are You Afraid of the Dark, now writing the Pendragon series (which is excellent). He was really interesting, and very friendly. The event, like everything he's worked on, was awesome. It was kind of neat to be the first person in the world to have him sign AYAOTD DVDs, since he didn't even know they were available (in Canada). His favorite episode is the Midnight Madness, and they got a little article in some magazine (the name of which escapes me) for that one because they replicated the original Nosferatu makeup for it, and this was only the second or third time anyone ever had done so. He's always been a little concerned about messing up the kids who grew up on the show, like one day some guy is going to come up to him and exclaim "I'm Zeebo the clown!" and then shoot him. A valid point, but I think we're mostly sane. :) We also talked a little about SC (since I brought it up), and he mentioned that they used the same crew on both shows- same art director, everything. Old news, but still interesting. I hope to get the chance to do it again someday.
In other news, it looks like the new record by theSTART should be arriving today or tomorrow. Yay! I was joking when I said it might get here in time for my birthday, but it looks like that's what's going to happen. (Release date June 5, so yay for early pre-orders!)
The job search is progressing, I guess- at least I'm doing something. No news yet, but I've got time. I'm broke, but I've got time. Also, I've been wanting to work on transcripts for a long time, but I haven't gotten around to it- soon, I guess. I was planning on doing two at once, so that I could take away the sting of All You Can Eaty. Maybe I'll get started again this week or next. I also want to read more- usually I've read a buttload of books by now, but I've just been really lazy lately. I'll have to work on that. (I think Pendragon 7 is going to break the cycle, though- I always need that one good speed book to get me into a period of major reading. I should have done more before my schedule gets full, but that wasn't meant to be.)
