I hope everyone is going to have a wonderful twothousandsex (thank you Melian for that phrase...I'm pretty sure I misspelled and butchered it though).
My christmas was great! Spending time with family is my favorite thing about the holidays. Sometimes we give gag gifts and one of the gag gifts this year was to my Grandma. When she went on vacation with my Mom, Phil, Uncle Greg, Aunt Vickie, Grandpa, and Haley she ended up with blisters all over her feet because of her shoes. So she had band-aids all over. We bought a box of band-aids and taped a picture of her feet (taken by Haley) to the box. She opened the present, stared at the feet, held up the box and said "who's feet are these? They're ugly>" We told her they were hers and she repeated "They're ugly." We have a copy of her feet on our fridge. *giggles*
The week heading into christmas wasn't so great though. I was sick for most of it with a fever, chills, cough etc etc etc. My Mom reminded me that I was sick the same time last year (or 2004 since the new year has come). She joked that she hoped it wasn't going to become an annual tradition of mine and suggested she lock me up a week prior to prevent me from getting sick/getting someone else sick. I don't know what caused me to be sick (seeing as how I rarely go out), but I hope it passes my house next christmas.
I also got so many presents of which I don't deserve. The list? I received clothes, a silver chain for my pentacle pendant, the next book in the Undead Vampire series, a sudoku puzzle book, disney's cinderella, HP and the POA (Matt got it for me last year (and this year) but part of the dvd kept freezing up and I just couldn't have that, money from Dad (going to be used to pay bills. Blech), Eats Shoots and Leaves, English Grammar for dummies, the 2006 edition of the children writer's and illustrator's market book (I bought with the gift card Jeremy gave me), the teen witch dvd, The Sims 2 for PS2 (OMG I don't care what the people who gave it a bad review on amazon said. It doesn't have the coolness of the PC game, but that's to be expected since PS2 is an entirely different format. It's awesome in its own rights and I am totally addicted), I got some more presents, and the big present this year was an ipod nano. At first I didn't think I was going to like it, but I was so wrong. I love my nano. I named it Kadence Iris Phoenix. So this year I got a huge haul of goodies.
As for New Year's eve my Mom and I played two games of life and quite a few rounds of boggle. She whooped me every time. Just a note, in the game of life going to college is almost always a guaranteed lose. So it's totally not worth it. However in real life that's just the opposite (if you get the right kind of degree and the right kind of job).
I of course like many made New Year's resolutions (even though I believe my new year won't actually start until February 19th because that's my birthday). They are:
1. Finish, polish, and send off at least three PB manuscripts, ten short stories, 20 poems, or one (or two if I'm extra brilliant and productive this year) YA fiction manuscript(s) before 2006 dies away.
2. Lose enough weight to weigh 275 pounds by christmas 2006. Slowly yet surely I will lose it all.
3. Keep working on my cafepress shops and start looking into marketing. (I just opened a few, and I'll post links as soon as I get all the items in the stores).
I'm sure there are more that I could make, but those are the main ones.
The biggest loser is having an open call in Chicago next tuesday and I wish I could go audition. It totally sucks not having money or a sense of direction.
And now for some encouragement This year I will stick to my resolutions. This year I will stick to my resolutions. This year I will stick to my resolutions.
Well I'm off to listen to my ipod after which I'm going to play The Sims 2 on my PS2.
Love and hugs,
~Amber~
