Sometimes I really wonder what’s the point of going to school. I had a lot of fun in class today. My English teacher went off on so many random tangents right in the middle of the thought. She’d be like “You have to make sure that you include a theme to discuss what Hardy was…That’s a really neat bag Corrine! Where’d you get it?” And she’s so cute cuz she’d be talking about plagiarism and she’d be like “You even have to cite pictures and comic strips even if people know whom it’s by like certain handouts I’ve given you all this year…hmm…oops, maybe you all can give me a bad grade or something.” LOL, she’s so corny it’s cute. But then I get home and ask myself: what did I do today-nothing. There was absolutely no point to go to school aside from keeping up my perfect attendance. I should be home working on my make-up essays and literary analyses instead of being at school…grr…
I had a huge physics test today. I went to my friend Albert’s house to study for it. I set aside four hours to study. We spent half an hour talking about physics and then played MK II on SNES for three and a half hours. It was a lot of fun. I needed a break like that. So I successfully bombed my test today, but that’s okay, because there’ll probably be a curve and I have 100 in the class not counting this test, so it would hurt my grade that much.
I saw one of my friends at the SAC today. He was in a wedding dress and decked out in make up passing out cards that said “I shouldn’t have to be a woman in order to marry the man I love.” It was so weird seeing him like that, mainly cuz I never thought he would do something like that. I loved that he was making people aware that it’s National Freedom to Marry Week and that he was lobbying for same-sex marriages, but I’m not sure I agree with the way he did it. Dressing up in drag has its time and its place. When you do something like that, yes it grabs people’s attention and you are able to hand things out more easily. At the same time, however, I could see that it made a LOT of people uncomfortable. There’s a difference in being gay and kind of shoving it in front of people. Once he put that veil over his head it went from, hey let’s support same-sex marriages to hey, look at me, I’m supporting same-sex marriages. I mean I know he was making a statement and his intentions weren’t to get a lot of negative attention for himself, but that was what he was doing. People will say hey, there’s a crazy gay person in a wedding dress and they will associate that image for any other gay person they meet. It is a negative image despite whether or not a person is accepting or against homosexuality. Being gay is only one aspect of my life. I’m all for gay pride, but since he got to college and came out, he’s letting the fact that he’s gay DEFINE his life, and that is what I do not agree with. ::sigh::
GSP is having a day where scholars can go and help rally support for more money to go into the program so that we can accept more scholars and other people can receive the same great experience we had. We will get to tour the capital and meet with Governor Fletcher. In addition to this, if we so choose, we can ask to meet privately with members of Kentucky’s congress to discuss any matters about which we are concerned. I want to meet with my representatives and express my views on the economy and the budget crisis we’re going through right now, the safe school bill that LYG lobbied for last week, the accountability testing, and a bunch of other things. Ever since I got back into current events, I love politics and I want to delve straight into it and make it a difference. I want to change the course of politics and return it to making America a better place instead of getting yourself in office. Negative ads and campaign finance reform…grr…
Well anyway, There’s a lot of other things on my mind, but not as important. I can’t wait for Danny to fly in on Friday. Everyone is going to love him. I’m gonna try to sneak him into my classes and then we’re gonna go shopping together for our outfits Friday night. YAY! Anyway, take care people. I love you!
