Mmm jambalaya....

Any entry you post on food makes my mouth water.

I don't think I need to explain to you what college gourmet is like. Dx

AND it sucks since I didn't get the dorm with the kitchen for next year AGAIN. The only plus is I have a single room next year, but no kitchen means I'll have to keep up my diet of Chik-fil-a and Taco Bell for a whole other year until I can eat REAL FOOD.

I actually lived in a separate house with our own chef for three years of undergrad. :3

Wait, do you guys not get meal plans or something? Having to rely on fast food for a year sounds all sorts of not awesome. D:

We do have meal plans, but all we've got on campus is cheap fast food. It's gross.

But just one more month left...ugh, that seems to make it even harder...

I'd TCP/IP you some jambalaya if I could but I can't so I won't.

Fun fact: I haven't had packaged ramen in years. :3

What recipe do you use for jambalaya?

I'm gonna make gumbo as soon as okra starts showing up at the farmer's market :3

Oops, didn't mean to snub you there.

Except obviously not with a whole chicken. Used drumstick meat because it is: 1) tastier, and 2) cheaper, so I basically deboned 2-3lbs of drumsticks. Made stock with the bones and added that to the jambalaya later. Also since I used fresh andouille sausage, I saved the water I poached the sausages with and added that in later.

Oh, and none of that boiled chicken nonsense. Toss it with some cayenne and garlic powder, and then pan fry until done and set aside. Use delicious chicken fat and liquids to cook your veggies in.
