"Attention, please," Joonmyun announced to the club. The members of the club all looked his way and then continued doing what they were doing. "Hey, guys. I have an important announcement to make," he tried again. Jongdae stopped what he was doing and walked over to Joonmyun.
"Hyung, let me," Jongdae spoke to him. "Hey losers, listen up!" he shouted. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned their attention toward them.
"Jongdae, you didn't have to say it like that," Joonmyun grumbled. "Anyway, we have our first local tournament coming up soon. Kris and I will assign the teams. For those new to fencing, what we're doing is a group tournament and it's a great opportunity for beginning fencers to participate. It's a co-ed competition where we compete against other schools in the area like SM High School, Catholic School of the East, Function of X High School for Mathematics and Science, Holy Academy of the Girls... um... I think ."
"Oh man, f(x)'s gonna be there?" Chanyeol whined. "Their sabre team is fucking insane."
"You mean SM isn't as good at sabre?" Lu Hua couldn't help but ask.
"SM is considered the best but somehow that school full of nerds are amazing at sabre. They're just as terrifying if not sometimes better than SM. Not so good at foil and epee, but great at sabre," Chanyeol explained. He tilted his head to the side in thought. "Which is funny because it's usually the other way around."
"With that said, Kris and I will tell you more once we get more information," Joonmyun said and everyone went back to what they were originally doing.
Minseok approached Lu Hua and asked, "Hey, Lu Han, where's Yixing?"
Lu Hua furrowed her brow in confusion. "That's weird, I saw her in class earlier. She should usually be here unless she had something else to do."
"I think I saw her go off with some girls in our class..." Zitao offhandedly said before realizing something. He and Lu Hua both panicked. "Shit."
"What's wrong?" Minseok inquired.
Lu Hua and Zitao informed Minseok about Yixing's bullying situation. Lu Hua explained how she saw Yixing picking up papers with derogatory words on them and how she's not doing anything about it.
"Well that's not right," Minseok shared his opinion. "You guys practice, I'll go look for her."
Minseok grabbed his belongings and left the fencing room to look for Yixing. Meanwhile, Kris came up with Zitao and Lu Hua.
"Hey, are you two cool with fencing on the epee team at the local tournament?" he asked them.
"Sure," Lu Hua replied.
"Will I be missing school for this?" Zitao inquired.
"No. It's all day Saturday. You have plenty of time to finish your homework on Sunday," Kris answered him. Zitao nodded in agreement and then left off to fence.
For the next hour, everyone practiced. Kris, Lu Hua, and Zitao would rotate who would fence on and off the strip for epee before Zitao left to do some self practice. Kai, Chanyeol, and Jongdae did the same for sabre. Baekhyun, Kyungsoo, Joonmyun, and Sehun switched on and off between fencing each other and giving each other pointers on what they could do better.
Baekhyun took off her mask and looked around the room. "I guess Yixing and Minseok aren't here today."
Kai unhooked himself from the other strip. "They probably didn't feel like going to practice today."
"Still," Baekhyun said with a hint of suspicion in her voice.
Kris walked over to his bag and pulled out his phone. "Let me text Minseok about him being A fencer for the B team."
Zitao stopped stabbing the wall and turned around confused. "What?"
"So in team fencing there are three fencers per team: A, B, and C," Kris explained. "There's something called pools where A fencers fence other A fencers, B fencers fence other B fencers, and C fencers fence other C fencers. They get the results from that and your team is ranked and seeded for DE's or direct eliminations. In DE's everyone on the teams fence everyone, regardless of A, B, or C fencer label. Does that make more sense?"
"I kinda get it," Zitao said still slightly unsure.
"You'll understand more once you're there," Kris reassured him.

Lu Hua and Kris were back at their shared room. Lu Hua had already showered and changed into a large T-shirt that wouldn't give too much away without her gauze on. Kris had changed into his pajamas and was currently typing up a report on the science and technology of the Joseon era at his desk. Lu Hua was in the bathroom brushing her teeth. She heard her phone go off. She spit and poked her head out.
"Hey, Kris," she called out, "Can you check my phone for me?"
Kris stopped typing and reached over to grab the smart phone from his roommate's bed. He looked at the screen. "It's from 'Asshole'."
Lu Hua groaned and grimaced. "Ignore it." She returned to brushing her teeth.
Curious, Kris peeked down at the phone screen and read the message on the lock screen.
Asshole:

The next day, Lu Hua spotted Yixing texting happily in her seat with a new phone charm. Glad to see her happy, she sat down in her own seat. On sitting, Lu Hua saw three girls approach Yixing at her desk with grumpy expressions on their faces. This couldn't be good.
"I heard you went out with Minseok oppa yesterday," one of the girl demanded. Yixing paused and flashed a smile at them.
"I did," she stated bluntly, but still politely, "I'm texting him right now. Would you like to say hi?" Lu Hua sensed a sarcasm that she never knew Yixing had in her. The girls around Yixing looked disgusted and decided to leave her alone. Lu Hua let out a sigh of relief.
"So that's where they were yesterday," Zitao said as he pulled out the chair to his seat and sat down.
"I'm glad that they're not bothering her today," Lu Hua said.
"Whatever, they're still fake ass bitches."
Yixing got up from her seat and headed to Lu Hua's desk. "Lu Han oppa, Minseok oppa told me he heard about those girls from you." She took a step back and bowed. "I want to say thank you and that I'm sorry for not taking care of things myself."
"Hey. Stand up," Lu Hua told her. "It's okay. You're my friend. That's what friends do. Just act confident like you did earlier and they'll have no reason to bother you. Where did you two go anyway?"
Yixing beamed. "We went to the ice cream place near campus as well as the night market. We even got these cell phone charms." She held up her phone and dangling from her case was a pink steamed bun with a face.
"I'm assuming you had fun," Lu Hua noticed.
Yixing flushed a light pink and nodded her head yes. She quickly changed the subject. "Oh yeah, Minseok oppa got a text from Kris about the upcoming tournament. Do you know anything about that?"
"Yeah," Zitao jumped into the conversation and proceeded to explain to Yixing about how the tournament details. Lu Hua corrected him on terms from time to time, but Yixing eventually got the gist of it.
"You'll understand it a little more once you're there. For now i suggest you practice," Lu Hua concluded.

Minseok and Yixing faced each other dressed in fencing jackets, holding foils.
"Yixing, you're going to attack me, I'm going to try to knock your blade out of the way, and then you're going to disengage and hit me," Minseok explained.
"Got it!"
Lu Hua and Zitao were still putting on their equipment when Baekhyun showed up.
"Don't you think those two seem closer now?" she asked. Lu Hua shrugged. "Hey, Chanyeol and I are going to see the new Marvel movie that came out. Wanna come with us?"
"I'm down," Zitao said.
"Same," said Lu Hua.
"Great. I'll go ask the others. It can be a fencing outing," Baekhyun chimed. She left to ask the others. Soon enough, the whole club had planned to meet at the movie theater the next day at 12:30.
"Jongdae and I might not be able to make it," Joonmyun said. "We have student council things to do."
"Since when was Jongdae in the student council?" Kai asked. To Jongdae he joked, "I thought you were anti-government." Jongdae smacked his arm.
"He offered to help me with paperwork Saturday morning," Joonmyun explained. Kai raised his eyebrow but chose not to say anything. Everyone started fencing after that.
Lu Hua went up against Zitao. It wasn't her first time fencing him, but she started noticing things about his fencing. His form and technique were slightly sloppy as a beginner would be. He was good at avoiding the sword, mostly likely from his martial arts. His blade work needed serious help. There were many almost touches he could have made had his blade work been better. She definitely saw potential in him as an epee fencer.
He stabbed her in the crotch.
The people around her cringed and Zitao immediately apologized. It took her a while to process that when guys get hit in the crotch, it hurts like a bitch.
"Ahhhh!" she faked a scream of pain and scrunched her body. "My nuts!"
She didn't notice Kris eyeing her weirdly from a distance.
