So I thought I'd finally update my LJ with news about "Superstorm Sandy" here in NYC.
The Sunday before it hit, I went to my local store to see how bad the hype was. It was pretty bad.
Of course, the first aisle to be emptied was the water. I got myself 2 Poland Spring gallons myself (which on writing this post, I still haven't used...
) The bread aisle was completely empty as well, but I didn't get a picture of it, because I got this picture while waiting in line...
I've never seen the lines so long in my store. They definitely made a lot of money that day from all of the NYers panicking.
At any rate, in my part of NYC, Sandy really wasn't that bad. There was a lot of rain, and it was very windy, but I live in a high part of the city. When they split up the city into zones of evacuation, my street wasn't even on the list.
I did go outside Monday night, though, to try and video just how windy it was, but it was so dark, it's kinda hard to tell.

It's been very rough on the city - so much flooding and damage happened. The only cool things were the fact that I never once lost power, and I ended up having almost the entire week off from school. Althought students don't have to go back to school until Monday, teachers have to report on Friday. It's silly really - what are we going to do without the kids there - but whatever.
So anyway, I'm chiling at least for one more day. It's been a nice vacation.
