Arashi Karaoke! \^.^/
I just wanted to jot this down because it was a cute episode of the fanbase working together for a common goal, so to speak. XD
July 4th, a bunch of us got together (Krissy, mishiness , mikarocker , and tartaruga139 at Duets48 to do an afternoon session of marthon karaoke! (That's 1 PM to 8 PM for the uninitiated. ^.^)
While there, the first thing we did was check to see if Arashi's new songs were on the song list. We figured that "Ashita no Kioku" (Tomorrow's Memories) and "Crazy Moon ~ Kimi wa Muteki" ( ~ You are Invincible) would be on the list because they'd both been released the month before. However, their two newest ones, "Everything" and "Season" had only been released literally 3 days ago, so we weren't hoping for them.
Unfortunately, the "new song" book was only updated to April 2009. >.<; Fortunately, amefurift had pointed out during another karaoke session, that the newest songs by Arashi all had the same first 4 numbers in their code: 7444. Each song then had its own unique last two digits. SO! Armed with that information, and knowing that their last song "Kumoti Nochi, Kaisei" was 7444-35 (Good Weather After Cloudiness - although technically, it's only Ohno's song, but it's included in the 7444 code listings), I started testing other numbers to see if the new ones would pop up.
Sure enough, 7444-39 came up "Ashita no Kioku" and 7444-40 was "Crazy Moon - Kimi wa Muteki"! We were so thrilled to see them there and sang them both immediately! :D
Here's where the fandom comes in. The walls in the karaoke place aren't completely soundproof, so you often hear what the group is singing next door - granted, it's not /that/ loud, but you can definitely hear what song is being sung. So next door, there were three Japanese girls who apparently heard us singing, because they knocked on our door and asked us how we knew the number to the newest Arashi songs because they were fans too. XD We shared our information with them and they were very grateful to us. :D
Then, about an hour or so later, they came back to our room to share /their/ discovery. Both "Everything" and "Season" WERE in the database too! :O 7444-44 and 7444-45 respectively. They told us that they'd actually seen the numbers posted on the karaoke screen (in between songs, while the next song would be loading, the screen would always show stuff like the Oricon listing for the top 10 songs, or a screen that listed whatever new songs had been added to the database) It turned out that even though these songs were only 3 days old, they were already entered in. We were grateful to them in turn. See? The fandom works together! XD Now, unfortunately, when we tried the numbers at first, nothing happened. We got the regular "We're sorry, but we can't find that number" screen in Japanese, which was a disappointment at first. But I assured the girls that when Nari and I first learned this trick, it was for the song, "Truth." For some reason, the code for "Truth" would only work when the "New songs added" screen flashed. So pretty much any time Japanese stuff would roll up on the screen, I'd enter the code numbers, skipping them when nothing would happen within 30 seconds to 45 seconds.
And then... it happened! :D I entered the numbers, and after about 15 seconds, we got a blue screen, which was very promising because it meant a song was being loaded, and then there it was. "Everything!" *.* I immediately plugged in the second code right after it, and right after "Everything" finished, "Season" began. WOOT! :D
When each song loaded, we literally screamed. XD It was just too funny! We had such a great time, and it looks like we'll get together again next month, probably around the 22nd or so. It's still tentative, but I hope we can get together and sing again. :D
