NYC / ComicCon meetup for Sho-kun! ^.^/

Jan 19, 2009 16:51

I wasn't sure if I could make a post like this on the Arashi communities, so I figured it would be fine if I just linked over here to my LJ where I have all the permission I want. :D

So as of right now, nothing has been confirmed as to whether or not our favorite newscaster will be stopping in the Big Apple to promote his film, but at least we know for sure that his film /will/ be shown, so if nothing else, we can at least plan on meeting up to see it, ne? :)

Please post here if you know you are coming for sure so we can begin to take a head-count of sorts. And we should plan accordingly in terms of our "warm welcome." :D

[I have this leftover fan from when I was in Japan that I'm gonna try to convert into a Sho/Yatterman Uchiwa. :)]

Any further information or confirmations please post below, and I'll update the master post. Just a heads up, the tickets are $30 for just going on Friday, and $50 for the entire weekend. From an email that I received from ComicCon, tickets can be purchased at Border's Bookstores at any of their metro New York locations (read: Manhattan).

Can't wait to meet you all!

Update 4
Thanks for the heads up from heartilly26 . It turns out you can purchase a one day pass in advance from The Forbidden Planet (located in Union Square, at 13th Street and Broadway (easy access from the 4, 5, 6, N, Q,R and W trains).

Update 3
Tell me if this is a silly idea or not... but what if we all learned the lyrics to at least the chorus of "Believe" (although we could learn it all!) and sang it for Sho?  ^.^;; I  remember when we were in LA that shourai got the girls to all sing A.RA.SHI. and were subsequently filmed by the DVD crew, as well as Japanese news programs. :)

Update 2
Thank you arashifanatic for the skinny from Lance Fensterman's blog (who happens to be the director of events at NYCC)

(1)
Takashi Miike and Sho Sakurai will be at NYCC to speak about Yatterman at 4 PM on Friday, February 6 in the IGN Theater and will present an exclusive 7-minute clip from the film. Both will then appear at the World Premiere of Yatterman at 8 PM the same day, at the New York Directors Guild Theater, at 110 West 57th Street. A limited number of free tickets for the screening will be made available at the Nikkatsu Booth (#1315) earlier on Friday.

(2)
Both Miike and Sakurai will also be signing autographs at the Nikkatsu Booth (#1315) - fans should check at the booth for the exact signing schedule. O.O!!!

Update 1
Thanks to booksandsarcasm we now know that the theatre only seats 3,000 and the director of the movie is very important to fandom. The doors will open at 1:00 PM for the general public to enter the convention, so we might want to consider lining up for the door as early as possible. I'm thinking, 7 or 8 AM, if not earlier. So yeah, when we line up is up for debate, ne? :D We've got time to discuss it.
