I want a pretzel.

I finished all of my homework during orchestra practice and relished the reality that I'm not in orchestra. I realized what seed stitch knitting was in Barnes and Noble today and so now I have to redecide the concepts for my vests. The more I think about it the more choices I have and it's not appealing. If you hear, see, dream of, or imagine the musical name Okkervil River, don't bother considering listening to them, for the sake of those who have seen them live. Drunk, Drugged, Delirious, Dumbly off key. I'm going to go search for the fish postcards.

  1. belle and sebastian:
Lately I've gotten increasingly more interested in Belle and Sebastian, "Your Cover's Blown" is a really nice song with a good feel for a lot of moods. "I Don't Love Anyone" is more mood specific, but has lyrics that I appreciate.
  2. bubbles:
In May, I would sit for hours with my mom's old colored inks, making bubbles with them in funny patterns and watching them pop.
  3. collaging:
The idea of collecting elements that all have meaning together in one place is a process I really appreciate. It gives me an opportunity to put something together and is much better suited to my impatient nature because it's harder to ruin. You can move anything anywhere until it's glued down, by which time you've tried every other possibility and you're sure, that's where that goes. A drawing or painting is very susceptible to complete manglement.
  4. fish:
Recently, I was given a grid assignment where I had to draw a fish and it reminded me how technically fish can be drawn and of some postcards I got in Paris that I really really like and hopefully know the location of.
  5. henna:
I mix my own lavender-scented henna paste, but application as an exact science I haven't worked out yet. The impatience found in my personality needs to be smoothed over if I want really beautiful henna. The henna smells good though.
  6. making stamps:
Useful for recreating my abstract designs, stamps provide more flexibility. I can achieve a surprising amount of detail and then I get to play with colors and so on.
  7. psychology:
I've read some psychology books and the source of the interest is basically knowing about my behavioral patterns, family behavioral patterns, and human behavioral patterns in general. The more you pay attention to what they say, the more you start to see this or that behavior click and then you understand it more, what drives it, but unfortunately not always how to stop it. And when I recognize what I'm doing it's kind of out-of-body and I feel unable to change it.
  8. sarcasm:
Not really an interest, an offhand habit.
  9. stomp:
I saw them last week, quite good. They had a few really interesting parts of their performance, including their lighter piece where the stage was black and the 8 people had old-fashioned lighters and did everything in rhythm (obviously). Also they would incorporate moving things off/cleaning the stage into their performance.
  10. tori amos:
I actually haven't listened to Tori in a while, but seeing this reminds me to enjoy "Tear in Your Hand", "A Sorta Fairytale", and so on.
