The pendants I did last week at Painted Pig Pottery didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. But that's ok because they look good... I just had higher hopes. I did find out that the glaze I bought works in their kiln and is major awesome. :) I painted a frog, a lizard and another fox then. I will pick them up next week. Will post photos later, of course. I got to play with their cat again. I won't go any further than that, though, as I really miss having a cat at home. It was a nice time but I was there way too long. I was so tired when I got home, I went straight to bed.

Later, I got up and finished a pendant. (COM: it's blue, purple and green. Photo later today.) I started another one and got one side finished. I did a dragon (green and blue) with a scorpion tipped tail over a fiery background. I will do the back with the same background.

I have found that about 5 coats of clear lacquer are enough to protect the pendants I do at home. What I do here vs PPig is that there I use glazes that are fired in a kiln. At home, I use watercolors. I use the same base material just different decorating techniques. The watercolor ones have the more intricate detail. I did get a 15% off coupon for the PPig. I want to make something for JKL there with that, though. ;D

I figured out how to display the pendants at the AC art show. I'm probably going to sell the dragon there. Not sure what else. Maybe this one luna moth. I will ask opinions later. I got three empty boxes of microscope slides out of the recycle bins at work. I will cut out one side, add a layer of clear plastic so you can see inside, then stuff it with cotton batting and the piece. I will tape the thing together and display it on the wall like that - to prevent theft. Hopefully.

Today was going to be a super busy day - gardening, errands, painting, etc. However, I had horrible nightmares so I've decided screw it. I have to go get my meds I dropped off yesterday at the pharmacy. That's it. I will paint the rest of the day. Draw the comic. I can dig tomorrow. Since I'm going to be rooting out a hosta to take to work for a plant swap, I should wait until then anyway. I didn't make it to the hardware store so I might go to the Farmer's Daughter (near the pharmacy) to get some plant food... and maybe some more phlox. I will plant that where I dig out the hosta.

No, we aren't having a cookout. The family tradition is to visit the cemeteries and place flowers. However, all the cemeteries for the family are in WV. Not going to make it down there this year.

Is Memorial Day primarily for deceased military people? Back in the hills, it was more for remembering anyone who had passed. You know, go to the cemetery, place flowers, chat with others there, remember the deceased, then maybe have a cookout somewhere. It wasn't just about those who served. It was a time to gather together, to celebrate those we had lost, and to commune.

Well, I guess it's time to log off and get to the pharmacy.
