Work was nuts. Had yet another bath-salts doofus in the ER. *shakes head* WTH. Earlier this week, we had one that ATE the bath-salts. No, dude, that's not right. Say hello to Mr. Stomach-Pump. Amazing.

Saw my GP yesterday. Wants me to go up on my Zoloft and Ambien. Will give it a shot. Also agrees I should see a therapist. Told me that with my insurance it should be easy. I can find one and see how it goes. She's glad my guts are ok, though. My B12 went up. My bad cholesterol is up over 200 so she told me to stop eating cheese. Dang. My good cholesterol was up, too, though. Whee. Everything in my labs looked good - duh. I already knew that since I ran them! LOL! Benefit of being a lab tech, I can do my own blood work. Can be a draw back, too, but we'll focus on the good today.

Afterward, I went to the pharmacy to get the scripts filled then over to the Goodwill to kill time. Got a new scrub top - I always find good scrubs there. Sometimes they don't fit right which isn't a big deal since I only spent $3.50 instead over $20! :D Also got some books since I don't have any such things. *Sarcasm* One is a 1944 hardback collection of horror stories that includes works by Saki, Hemingway and Lovecraft among others. Sigh. :D Love old spooky stories. Once I left there and got my 'scripts, I drove up to the big shopping center on the hill to the Shoe Department. One of my pairs of work sneakers has given up the ghost so I bought a new pair. I also got some socks and a couple of tins of candy - with HELLO KITTY on them! (One is shaped like a cupcake and the other is a Chinese food take out box. Both are metal/sturdy. Neat.) Went home after that.

When I got back, I opened the box from American Science and Surplus. All of my order was in it. Love it when nothing is on back order. Got myself some centrifuge tubes (big ones that can hold beads or whatever), some petri dishes, a flashlight, a work light and a copy of "Weird U. S.". I spent the rest of the day reading in the book. I love those books. (I have one about Maryland and one of Pennsylvania already.) I've been keeping track of places in WV and PA that are mentioned in it - so far, they have mentioned:
* Hexenkopf in Easton, PA
* Sellerville, PA, and the albinos (what is weird about albinos, anyway?)
* a Midgetville in Ridley, PA (same thing about little people?)
* the hand print on the wall in the Carbon County/Jim Thorpe, PA, jail
* Philadelphia Experiment in the Phila. Naval Yard (which is utter bullshit, IMHO)
* The Grave Creek Mound in Moundsville, WV (not really weird to me)
* and I just got to the story of the infamous MOTHMAN of Point Pleasant, WV.
I love this crap. To me, it doesn't matter if the story is true so long as it's a good story. That's why these are good. The stories all come across as having just a hint of truth... which is what gives them a chill factor. Some of them are total bologna and come across as some stupid kid doing something they shouldn't who got the crap scared out of them so they have a humor factor.

In this book, there is a story of La Llorona, "The Crier". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Llorona is a good explanation. The version in the book from El Paso, TX, the woman stabbed her kids and then threw them in the river (Rio Grande). As punishment, she was not only forced to walk the river banks searching for her children, but also has a horse's head. I did a crappy illustration for that one. Here.

Still too "Scooby-Doo Type Villain" for my tastes but better than my past horror art.

Today, I'm not going to do a damned thing. :P
