The comic strip is up. http://art-fumes.livejournal.com/65288.html It's called "Too Many Twizzlers". And yes, there actually is such a thing as too many Twizzlers.

Art Spam! Pix of the finished illustrations of the deer skull and a koi/fish.
Here is the finished illustration of "The Watcher", the deer skull painting.

9" x 11". Pen and ink with watercolors on watercolor paper. (The copyright symbol is not on the original illustration, of course.) The background is glittery, like the inks in those sparkly gel pens. It's actually a brand of watercolor paints. The deer skull is done in regular, flat watercolors with India Ink for the detail work. I have three different deer skulls and drew this from those references. I will probably enter this in the AnthroCon art show this year.

This is called "Peace".

6" x 4". Ink and watercolors on watercolor paper. The background is done in a glittery watercolor paint similar to the ink in gel pens. The fish and kanji symbol (it means peace) are in regular, flat watercolors. I will mat and maybe frame this then sell it on eBay to help raise a donation for Japan. Or I may do several of these type of little paintings and sell the set.

My art club was nice. I taught the class this time, only the second instance of me doing that. This one went over better. I have to remember that these women aren't artists but crafters. They don't get complex color theory and weird art techniques. They did enjoy this one and made many images to make cards with. I'm proud.

I spent the evening drawing the comic and doing the illustration of the koi.

***ASSISTANCE, PLEASE***
I want to do a series of illustrations like the koi. I need Japanese symbols (like the koi and cherry blossoms) and words (like peace, faith, life, etc.). GIVE ME IDEAS! Many thanks. I will mount and sell the works to raise money for Japan.
