Rain's Ghost Stories

(I'll post some ghost stories here now, then journal later in the evening.)

Phantom Phone Message
When my uncle Billy was alive, he always told us that, if he died before us, he'd come back to Earth to tell us if there were an afterlife. He died of a heart attack in 1995 at his job. He was cremated after a short service.
The evening of the service, Sam (Billy's wife) and her cousin Mark were sitting in her living room, talking about Billy, when the telephone rang. Sam got up to answer it but the answering machine got it first. It played a phone message that Billy had recorded while alive, "Hello! You have reached 555-1234. Please leave a message." No one was on the phone. They shrugged it off, thinking it was just someone who didn't want to talk to the machine, and went back to talking. A few minutes later, the phone rang again, the machine picked it up, played the message and no one was on the line. Everytime they talked about Billy, the phone would ring and the machine would play Billy's voice. Sam at one point, to calm her cousin, turned the answering machine off and it still played the message. She unplugged the machine and it still played the message! Mark got freaked out and he left. Sam felt a little better, though.
A few days later, my aunt Lucy (Billy's sister) was combing her hair in the bathroom. In the mirror she saw Billy grinning and laughing. She turned around and he wasn't there.

Pin Ball UFO
When I lived in WV, my cousin Joe and I were coming back home from a trip out to the mall or somewhere. When we crested this hill just outside of Lavalette, we saw this HUGE silver sphere floating in the sky above the golf course. It wasn't a blimp, this was perfectly spherical and metallic. Joey and I both saw that one. We had to go around a curve in the road, but when we looked back, the silver thingy had disappeared.

Weird UFO Flight Plans
Again, while I was living in WV, Joey, Jimmy (a friend of ours) and I saw around 4 or 5 different UFOs zipping about the sky one night. They had just left my house to walk back to Joe's, when they came back to my apartment and told me to come outside. Up in the sky, we watched as these lights zooming around the sky and changing colors. They swooped, looped and made 90 degree turns. They didn't get close enough for us to see what they were though. We ran back into the house when one started coming close to us, though.

Spring Valley State Park/ Rehmeyer's Hollow
There is a county park near where I live that is said to be haunted. Back in the 1920s, a man sought out the advice of a pow-wower (a PA Dutch version of voodoo) because he was having horrible luck in life. This person told Blymire that he was cursed by a man name Nelson Rehmeyer. The way to remove the spell was to steal a lock of Rehmeyer's hair, his spell book and bury them six feet deep. Blymire got two of his friends and they went to Rehmeyer's house. (Keep in mind these are all poor farmers out in the woods.) There was a big fight and Rehmeyer was killed. The men then set fire to Rehmeyer's house and left. Rehmeyer is said to haunt the hollow where his house is located. (Only a little bit of the house was damaged so it was refurbished and people now live in it.) I've never seen Rehmeyer but I have been in the area to see some weird stuff. The park has a really strange weather anomally in it: fog every night. And the fog behaves oddly. It rolls in instead of coming up from the ground. It's just a huge wall of mist that comes from one direction. I've seen that. I've had friends who got lost in the park even though there aren't very many roads through it and they lived in the park. Really creepy area, though.

Mom's House
I was cleaning the house where my Mom and aunt Bessie were murdered one day. I was really upset and was crying as I carried things out. I was talking to the house as if I were talking to Mom and Bessie. I said, "I just wish that I knew that you two were okay where ever you are now." I then went outside and deposited the load I was carrying into my car. When I came back inside, the living room light was on! This wasn't a light that you flip a wall switch on either. You had to manually turn the lamp on with a twisting peg mechanism. I hadn't turned it on. I know that the cats couldn't have done it either. I was the only person there. I said, "Well, I guess that means that you're okay. I won't worry about you anymore then." I then felt really relieved and calm.

Hotel Ghost
In 2004, Dad, his sister Erma and I went on a long trip. For Moday, 10-11-04, my journal entry stated that I saw a ghost in the hotel room I was sharing with Erma. We were in Sikeston, MO. Here is the entry:
"Woke up at 3.45 (a.m.) to see a woman standing next to my bed and looking out the window. She was about 50 to 60 years old, whitish-blonde hair pulled up in a bun and was looking out the window. She held her hands over her chest and wore a white nightgown with ruffles at the sleeves and collar. She stared out the window as if she were pining. At first, I thought the woman was Erma until I realized that this woman had no legs. Weird. Was she a ghost or a dream, I don’t know, but it freaked me out."
I did manage to go back to sleep. I didn't feel afraid of the ghost, though I did pity her. She looked so alone.
