As a weight-loss clinic, UCDavis is overkill ...

Sorry for the delay, yesterday was rather hectic, and I crashed last night.

I drove Mo over to a Carol's house (friend from church) about 0800 Friday. Carol took her to the hospital from there, while I went grocery shopping for lunch stuff.

Carol stayed with Mo until Agnes (another friend from church) showed up to relieve her, then Carol had to go do soccer mom stuff. Then the aunts started trickling in, so Mo had a full complement of well-wishers by the time she went in to surgery.

I got the lunch call about noon. I raced to prep and pack the last couple items, take a shower, and run everything down there. Lila & Lola (identical twins aunts) met me in the parking lot and helped me lug the 10 grocery bags in to the hospital. Funny bit - as we were passing through the lobby, they spotted the vase of flowers that Buster (Uncle Charlie) had forgotten. We ran into him at the elevator; he'd come back looking for them.

We invaded the cafeteria and spread out on several tables. Seven of us there - Me, Lila, Lola, Mick & Gene, Buster & Dee. Everyone was able to put together sandwiches and salads with their choice of meats, cheeses, veggies & toppings. Then we hauled the remains up to Agnes in the waiting room, swapped cell phone numbers, and caught up on Mo's status. We packed up the leftovers (I'll be eating leftovers for the next week, I think), helped Gene find his car and move it over with the rest, then I came home while the others waited.

I got calls from both Mom & my other sister on the way home, but didn't have any news for them. They called again a couple hours later, and I reminded them that I would call them when I heard anything, and no call meant no news. *sigh* Only real downside to the day, though.

Agnes called about 1700, Mo was out of surgery and in recovery. Surgery went well; they removed a 15# tumor and did a full hysterectomy. I'm hoping they snipped her appendix while they were rooting around in there.

Mo was moved to a room about 2100, Agnes stayed until 2300, then went back this morning. She's called me with a couple updates since then, which I've passed on to the grapevine.

Mo is doing well, according to the staff. She's in pain, which is to be expected, but she's up and walking, eating jello, broth and juice. She's still on track for a Monday or Tuesday kickout; Mom flies in on Monday to get her settled in a motel room for the first couple weeks, until she can handle stairs to the condo.

Sorry to ramble, but that's where things stand.
